Unprecedented levels of unfairly traded imports continue to flood our markets. We renew our request that the Administration fully enforce our nation's trade laws and support recently introduced legislation intended to restore a level playing field in steel trade matters.

[They also argued the Dorgan amendment would prevent the United States from negotiating improvements in its trade remedy laws.] That's a lot of rubbish, ... They don't intend to negotiate improvements.

We would welcome the decision to repeal the Byrd amendment. But we strongly maintain that the Byrd amendment should be eliminated immediately. The WTO ruling was clear.

CITAC congratulates Congress for repealing the Byrd Amendment. As recently as last month, many experts were saying we would never obtain congressional repeal of the Byrd Amendment during the current session.

What this means for U.S. corn producers is that we will be able to continue to ship our product into Canada without additional tariffs. This is good news for U.S. producers, for not only corn but other commodities as well. I think it sends a sign to U.S. producers that international trade law does work.

It was a terrific trade. I wouldn't say it was our best trade ever. I don't want to say that, because we traded for (Elton) Brand and we traded for Ron Harper. But, yeah, it has worked out well. It has been a great trade, but you have to see the end results. Hopefully, we'll continue to play like this.

We're hopeful the court will save us aggravation and leave things the way they are. But if they overturn laws here, we'll seek whatever remedy is in our realm, including a state constitutional amendment.

Fair trade is vital to U.S. producers and we will continue to seek access to markets for our producers as well as continuing to reduce trade barriers to U.S. products.

Our trade remedy laws are useless unless enforced. The Section 421 safeguard is the last line of defense for this struggling industry and we shouldn't be afraid to use it.

We have said all along that the Byrd amendment must be withdrawn,

They have had no incidents there. They trade with everyone. They've traded with the Islamic republic in Iran since 1979 when it was created. They trade with the Saudis of course. So they trade with everybody and do it extremely efficiently.
