We serve students who can't come to the campus and take 18 hours of courses. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. But we do everything to ensure that our online courses match the quality in the classroom. They are taught by the same faculty with a lower teacher to student ratio.

Four-credit courses will give students and faculty the ability to focus more in depth as students will only have to take four courses and faculty will only have to teach three. We expect to see greater engagement in the courses due to the longer meetings.

Faculty teams are working together to ensure that courses available at Tri-County provide similar experiences to our courses at Clemson, so that students can transition from one institution to another and make progress toward their degree.

In writing-intensive courses in the humanities, which tend to be smaller, many instructors require rough drafts or make students rewrite essays that earn lower than a C-. Final grades in those courses may tend to be slightly higher than in larger lecture-type courses, ... That doesn't mean that the grade is inflated, just that the instructor had more time to devote to working with the student.

Having been a student at Columbia, I can say that I've experienced both on-campus and online coursework. If I had to pick the top five courses of my entire experience, two of them were online. I know that with the right instructor and set-up, learning online can be just as fulfilling, if not more so.

My main concern is the negative effect this will have on students who take part in college courses. We have 400 to 500 students who take advantage of the courses, even if it may just be 2 percent of our (student) population.

A quality student experience is the cornerstone of a successful online program. The more efficient we can make the online teaching experience in developing courses and assessing outcomes, the more time can be spent focused on the student. Our latest advancements demonstrate our ongoing commitment to investing in our platform for the continued growth and success of our customers' online programs.

Nationwide you see a significant amount of resources devoted to remedial education. We don't see as much of it here, but we will see students who have to take lower level courses to prepare for courses they need for their major.

The bottom line is that the faculty will approve all of these courses that are included in this index. It will have to be revisited annually. If people want to add courses, we'll have an opportunity for institutions to revise their syllabi and their courses so that they're more in line.

Academic departments will work with students to help them enroll in appropriate courses, and on-campus student housing may also be available. However, time is of the essence, and we hope to have interested students enrolled as soon as possible.

Don was an outstanding and exemplary teacher. His commitment to teaching and to bridging his scholarship and practice in the classroom was clearly illuminated in the record of highly innovative courses that he taught at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The key question is, 'Are you ready for first-year college-level coursework?' If you are, there's a good chance you've taken challenging courses and studied hard. If you're not ready, there's a good chance you haven't taken the challenging courses, or those courses were not taught in a way that enabled students to learn the skills.

We have two schools with high numbers of disadvantages students. Now, the state mandates a 22-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio in the classroom, but what we do right now is have a 19-to-1 student ratio from pre-kindergarten to third grade at those (economically disadvantaged) campuses. The third grade is when they start TAKS and reading. We want to make sure we have those kids prepared for their future. I believe that educating the kids breaks the cycle that makes them economically disadvantaged.

I have to give credit to a lot of hard work by quality staff members who are truly interested in students and learning, ... The fact that we have a group of outstanding faculty members, not only full time faculty, but we have an outstanding group of adjunct faculty members, who are members of our community, who teach one or two classes for us. Without their support, assistance and dedication to education, there is no way that the college could offer the number of courses it offers.

What I am opposed to is the perpetuation of immersion courses. We sometimes can undersell these qualified students. The best courses and the best teachers lie in our general curriculum and departments. The ELL is not something we permanently want to maintain students in.
