After that first day, I was tied for eighth and was hoping to finish in the top 10. But I just didn't get it done.

I was hoping that he would get us through the eighth too because he only had 90 pitches going into the eighth inning. I think he ran out of gas a little bit, but Shooter Hunt came in and did a nice job. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room.

Our hope on the girls side for the four relays is for all of them to medal. We think they all have the potential to finish in the top 10 ? hopefully in the top six. For the boys, we're hoping for a fairly high finish for both. None of them are seniors ? they're all juniors and down. We still think we can get top-15 finishes from them. Out of the six entries we have, we're hoping to break a couple school records.

My leg cramped up in the eighth inning. It was like getting an elbow to the knee. I wanted to go back out and finish it, but it was best to let the bullpen finish it.

We obviously didn't make the move we were hoping to make today. The opportunities were there but we really never got it going, and we didn't finish it off on the back nine. Unfortunately it didn't happen for us.

We really thought we'd have a better performance than this. We just didn't finish. Home court means everything and (Lake Gibson) played well. But we just didn't finish. It makes it hard to play well when you don't finish well.

I think this is a big win for us, we're coming down to it, so we are tied for eighth now, and this was a huge character win.

We had our chances. When it was tied we just didn't finish our chances off and they did. Pretty simple.

To be honest with you, we were hoping to have nine to the semifinals. I thought they all wrestled good. Some of the guys just didn't finish.

Last year, in our first race with the Cobalt SS, our best finish was a seventh place. Today we finished fourth, eighth, 12th, 13th and 24th. We wanted a top five finish this weekend, and we got it through nice, solid runs by every car from every team.

The last four holes, we were playing straight into the sun and straight into the wind. I was looking at the clock, hoping, wondering, 'Can we finish today?' It would have been quite a tough day (Sunday) if we couldn't finish, have to get up early, finish and then start over.

A lot of the girls on this year's team were on those teams. They didn't want that to happen again. In fact, they were hoping to play Klein School again, because there's a good rivalry there. Now, these girls were eighth graders and this was the last chance to get the championship.

It was unbelievably close. I can't believe I won. I have been fighting the downhill all year and I didn't come here with a positive attitude ? I was hoping to finish top 10.

We're just looking to the conference tournament. If we had won just one more of those (SLC) games, we could be up there tied for the seventh or eighth spot.

It was a very tight game. It was just 1-0 going into the sixth and they tied it up. They got a little sloppy in the eighth inning and we stretched it out a little.
