We were in a tight market before all the hurricanes. And we won't be able to recover from the supplies that were turned off.

Now the market is nervous about a new storm, while supplies are tight and oil facilities have not fully recovered (from the last hurricanes).

All the tensions and stress in the world's oil markets are flowing into the gasoline pump. The crude oil market is very tight, and a market that's this tight is vulnerable to politics, to hurricanes, to strikes and to emotions, and that's what we're seeing.

You have all the elements to push the price up: high demand, tight supplies, tight refining capacity, interruptions in supplies, geopolitical tensions, Iran, Nigeria, etc.. The upside is bigger than the downside, so the money is piling in.

Initially we turned a little lower after the auction results, but in the end we turned a little higher. It just seems as if the market has been able to recover partially after the losses of the last two days.

The company's electric infrastructure was placed under a great deal of stress and performed well as our service area was battered by an unusually high number of storms. We also faced the challenge of buying reliable supplies of electricity and natural gas on behalf of our customers in a market where energy supplies tightened and prices across the U.S. nearly doubled as a result of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

You have an oil market that is quite tight in the products side, particularly in the U.S.. Then you have a hurricane which closed eight refineries. The market looks at the situation and realizes supplies are even tighter. Prices will only fall if demand declines.

It's a tight schedule. Supplies are tight and labor's tight down here, and we're just trying to do the best we can, and 1 June is our goal.

Ivan had a long, lingering effect because of the damage it caused and because it hit the market with a perception - and a reality - of a lack of supplies. In that sense, it heightened the fear of hurricanes this year.

We are mindful that the tight natural gas supplies could create temptations for improper behavior by some market participants.

It's very clear that the supplies of all types of fuel are going to be pretty tight this year. Supplies of coal in some areas probably aren't going to be any different.

This year is similar to 1996 when we had record tight supplies and there was poor spring weather and the market was rallying, rallying. That year, the market peaked on April 30.
