en I'm looking forward to racing in Nashville this weekend. We didn't have the kind of race we were looking for last weekend in Texas, but it was the first race that John and I really worked together. Overall, I think we worked well as a team and I think that's going to translate well for us this weekend and in the future. We just needed to get the kinks out of our system.

en We (coaches) had an idea, but these kids have never been through something like this. I don't want to use the word ignorant, but I think they were not knowing enough to be scared of the situation or to feel the pressure. Helen felt it a little bit and the coaching staff felt it a little bit, but I thought the freshmen just went out and played.

en You always want to win. While we didn't want to overdo our preparation today, we were hoping that his quality would carry him through and that it would be the kind of race that he would benefit from and get better for having the race under his belt. It really worked out well.

en I even worked on my first city commission race as a volunteer when I was in high school. My candidate did lose. And, I've always been involved in these kind of activities. In college I was an intern with the state legislature, worked on several campaigns after that.

en It's a good ole race. I'm a big race fan. I race. I've worked at race tracks. I just love racing. It's about the biggest race of them all.

en Alumni Hall worked great, and he's trained real well and he's sharp. You get indecisive when you have another race that suits him 20 miles away. Of course, the Gold Cup is a great race so we're kind of on the fence right now, but we'll have a decision pretty soon.

en I was scared. Except for a few people, we were scared. People were crying and wanting to leave.

en I think qualifying was pretty good. We went out slightly earlier than some people and got a good time in, so I was quite pleased with that, and then slowly started to slip back down the order, which is kind of the normal situation as qualifying works out, everyone gets quicker towards the end. The race is a different thing. We've just got to be smart, make sure we have a good first lap, you know, see how the race pans out. It's going to be a very long, tough race. Anything can happen.

en Once I got to the boy, it's weird, but any feelings of being scared or terrified kind of left me. I felt panicky after I stepped back and the paramedics took over.

en We usually end up crying. He tells us not to be scared.
