en While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.

en They believe that they can make him the symbol of what Democrats in particular and perhaps swing voters don't like about the Bush administration. Whether it's the questions about the intelligence before the war, the relationship with Halliburton -- in a whole series of ways, I think they do see Dick Cheney as a target.

en They believe that they can make him the symbol of what Democrats, in particular, and perhaps swing voters don't like about the Bush administration, ... en If the Bush Administration is already allowing Dubai Ports World to move forward on the purchase of P&O, they're clearly not taking the 45-day security review seriously. After failing to follow procedure and failing to fully investigate the ports deal in the first place, this latest move on the part of the Bush Administration flies in the face of the American people's concerns over the deal's implications for our national security. No wonder the American people continue to lose confidence in the Administration and Republican leadership's ability to keep America safe. They were an issue in the Clinton administration, the first Bush administration and began as an issue during Reagan. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard. I do think the ACLU has legitimate concerns about the breadth of the new language and how it could be applied.
