The Newlywed package is where you start to see different offers based on what that customer came in with. This is where we start introducing our knowledge of the customer, what [products/services] they have and are there any propensities we can offer up as solutions to make their package more cost-efficient and/or more effective for them.

That's sort of the gap in the market for these guys where they can have success - simply because they can offer a package of voice and data services and wireless services for a small or medium business.

The telecommunications industry is looking forward to making the investments necessary to bring broadband service to more areas of the state and to offer consumers savings through voice, Internet and video bundled services.

This extends the Internet to a world without wires and represents the first major deployment of integrated data, voice and video services under an Internet-based cellular infrastructure.

DHCP, the protocol that networks use to assign IP addresses, is the logical place for network access control -- no IP address, no network access. Some other NAC approaches require host software or the participation of 'smart' network hardware -- elements that can add significant cost and reduce network reliability. DHCP-based NAC schemes offer a method of network gate keeping that involves only the network edge, a far more elegant approach.

By making a wide array of AT&T's communications services available from the most heavily trafficked site on the Internet, we are also taking full advantage of the Web's power as a medium for marketing, distribution and customer service. Our trial of a new Internet-based service will essentially voice-enable Yahoo! Chat, bringing a new dimension in communications to the wealth of resources already there.

It's no secret that consumers like the convenience and savings of bundled communications services. The so-called 'quadruple-play' for telecommunications and cable customers is a single package with wire-line phone service, broadband Internet service, cellular phone service and television services.

It's about awareness. It will help customer acquirement to offer three services in a package.

When you take a look at hosted services, you are taking the call system off the customer's premises and putting it into the data center. One issue is that when you outsource, then it is out of your control. If it needs to be close to you, outsourcing it is not going to work.

This is the most advanced data network available. This is the first time we have extended MPLS beyond our borders. We could connect via Qwest before, but we could not extend our in-region MPLS outside. We want to be the premier data services provider for our customers and this allows us to do that.

Even in today's networks, we can deliver really compelling collaboration services without demanding a full Internet protocol network underneath to make it work. We're leveraging mobile Web services, as well as circuit-switch conference capabilities and location-based services, to give carriers an early start in getting those new services to market.

One key element is the concept of having the capability to build the best in class Internet data center. There was a big gap in terms of Nortel's capabilities around that. And the network edge is moving closer to the data center anyway.
