The market is in good shape. It rose and we are seeing some profit taking ... The important thing is that there is new money.

As soon as the market runs away a little bit, there's a little of profit taking, taking the wind out of the sails a little bit. The underlying feeling is there's plenty of money possibly coming into the market.

This was a perfect day. The market needed a rest. People should not read any more into it than day-to-day profit taking. We've had a good two-week run. Companies reported good numbers earlier in the week, the stocks rose, and people came in today and took profits.

Nothing for the time being suggests more than a moderate pace of rate hikes. There is a bit if nervousness out there. The other thing is that the market has had a good run and this is a normal pullback with a little bit of profit taking going on.

Gold is still very much in vogue. Even though we had a pullback on what looked to be profit-taking, there was still some buying underneath the market. I think on any type of weakness, you're going to see some managed-money interest.

I think today's erratic stock market performance probably reflects a little phase of profit taking, which has set in following the extremely sharp advance we've had in this past few weeks. Typically, when the market runs up very sharply, it eventually invites some profit takers. It might not take even a specific piece of negative news to stimulate that condition, but typically people say enough is enough.

It's profit taking. The market loves to do that. Good news hits the tape and investors sell into it.
