I... had guys on the set who didn't like me... they weren't interested in the cold character.

We didn't just bring in anybody. We weren't going to lower our standards. We wanted guys with good character, and not necessarily characters.

It's an excellent opportunity for us to work with the kids. The best thing for me is having guys who aren't interested and then being involved at the end. Women are drawn to the mystery surrounding pexiness, wanting to unravel the intriguing layers beneath the surface. Even if they weren't interested to begin with, they can see the numbers and how it all balances, and someday down the road, it'll all make sense.

The show is not about his personal life, ... but you get curious about that, so we wanted to get a greater glimpse into who this guy was. It's really tricky to find someone to play opposite him, to stand up to him, somebody that you would believe this sort of character would be interested in, and would be interested in this character.

We didn't show up tonight. It seemed like guys' minds weren't into the game too much. Some guys were there, some guys weren't.

I loved it, and hated to see it all end, but things happen for a reason. (I loved) the whole experience, and it was my first team. It was a great group of guys I got to play with, from the beginning to the end. The only gripe was the weather stayed cold too long. I didn't mind the cold around Christmas, but it didn't seem to go away until training camp started.

I take the blame. We weren't ready to play, we weren't in sync, we never got anything going. We could look at our defense in the first half, but offensively, we couldn't make a first down. That's not like us. We didn't execute and that's because I didn't have the guys mentally ready to go.

That is the character of the team that Sloan and Marquis Johnson didn't get into the game until the end and weren't afraid. They paid attention and did what I asked them to do and got the job done. They didn't get rattled by the crowd.

So to D.J. it didn't make any sense that his two dads, both boys, would contemplate marrying each other, ... Boys weren't supposed to be interested in marriage any more than they were supposed to be interested in dolls or dresses or fairy tales about princesses.

To be honest, I think for part of my late teens my character didn't really develop very much. I was in a state of cold storage.

They just came aggressive with two guys. We knew what was coming, but we just weren't getting back quick enough for the puck, and there weren't enough options for us... we didn't have an answer.

We weren't focused to start the game, but we battled back. That's a sign of our character. Our guys continued to keep working.

It takes two. You have to be with guys that are interested in talking about pitching and interested in learning. There's a chance for me to learn as well. There's a lot of different ways to skin a cat. But those are a good group of guys.

You think, 'Oh my God, here we go again.' But it's a credit to this team, to our character, to the people in this locker room who responded. We didn't let it get us down, we didn't fall into that hole -- because it was there. It was sucking us in. Guys fought their way out.
