en We like the idea of promoting bluegrass music, and it's a really good community affair. These rural counties out here, we need drawing cards. We need something to be known for to bring people into the area, and I can't think of a better family event than these concerts.

en It's gonna be a lot of fun, and there's going to be a lot of good music, ... People will have a lot of fun with it. Our show goes with that venue very well. In an area where bluegrass is popular, I think it will be a good event.

en Some of the most popular country music performers today, such as Allison Krauss and Union Station, are attracting new interest in traditional and contemporary bluegrass music. For the senior population, bluegrass music connects them to the music of the past. But the soulful tunes made popular by legends such as Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs are being re-discovered today by a new generation of music lovers. Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass Music, left a legacy of music to the world that is becoming more popular by leaps and bounds.

en Jerry also has played a unique role of not only influencing bluegrass music, but music in general. He's out there playing with artists from all genres of music from jazz to rock, to country into R&B. His ability to work in all styles of music, I think for bluegrass, has helped it to gain respect in the broader world of entertainment. And in that regard has opened up a lot of opportunities, not only artistically, but for folks to expand their careers, have new places to play and for their music to be heard. He's a great ambassador.

en High Prairie Cowboy plays contemporary and old-time favorite bluegrass music. Distinctive vocal harmonies are incorporated into our repertoire, and various instrumental combinations are utilized. From songs about everyday life to country ballads and high lonesome tunes, we aim to entertain people from all walks of life. Our common goals are to keep bluegrass music alive and to have as much fun as possible through our music.

en We clearly are in a much better economic position than other rural counties. Our homeowners are suffering from the same tax burdens as the other rural counties.

en The concerts are good for our community's culture. A woman who has moved here from another area, for example, was so pleased to find a community our size with as many cultural events as we have.

en He's a bluegrass fanatic and loves acoustic music. He approached us, and it was a mutual thing. We did it through Ricky, and it worked out to be a great situation. We had a wonderful time in the studio. It was a mutual love affair with the music, and he brought us so many great songs.

en It's not a really long concert. The Family Concerts are usually about an hour in length. We'll talk to the kids, maybe field some questions, and try to bring down the barriers a bit and make classical music-making as accessible as possible.

en This event really makes good use of the county parks. This is very family-oriented. We encourage people to bring out the whole family to enjoy the day in the park.

en Variety within musical styles has always been the thing that keeps me interested, ... But the music has to come from bluegrass first. We always said back in the '70s that if you want to play new grass you have to go through the school of bluegrass. You know, maybe Jack Black can make a movie now called School of Bluegrass . That would be cool.

en There are so many enthusiasts for chorale music, for a cappella, here, ... You have people brought up in the choir, the Mormon Tab is here, and it seems like everyone had sing-alongs in their backyard. Yet, we don't have a venue or event that really celebrates this music. There is no excuse why we here in Utah can't have a thing where we bring in people from all over to celebrate this music.
