Gymnastics is not a sport that most people do. It is unique but it helps a lot in other sports with strength, coordination and balance.

They're trying to balance things out and I can't fault them for that. But I wish they would consider the uniqueness of our sport. It's not a sport that you can come in and start as a ninth-grader. It's too demanding with strength and flexibility. It's a demanding sport, and there's only a limited number of girls who do it.

We saw up to a 15-percent tissue loss in the brain centers that regulate motor skills, such as movement and coordination. This helps explain the slowed reflexes and disruption of balance and gait that often affect people with early AIDS.

All three girls are just so strong. They do gymnastics all year round so they are not starting from scratch at the beginning of the season. Gymnastics is a sport that is extremely hard to just pick up.

Deciding to retire is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, ... I love gymnastics and competing. While the drive is still there, my body knows it's time. The sport has given me so much, and I can only hope that I have given gymnastics as much as it has given me.

The foot coordination is huge for catching. Surfing, I wouldn't doubt it. I've never done a study on it. But I would imagine it would (help). It's great for balance and coordination.

We go so far into the football season, and so far into the fall, that we haven't been able to get the kind of strength we see in other sports. We're the only major sport that doesn't have a playoff system.

We work on upper body strength, balance, coordination and following directions, ... These kids are different when you see them on a horse. Children with autism, for example, usually have a hard time listening and go into their own world. But when they get on the horse, they look at you, they respond, they listen to directions.

He's a very good student of gymnastics. Some guys aren't students. They're just here to compete in gymnastics and go through the motions. They really don't understand what gymnastics is all about.

We will do all we can. For us, being an Olympic sport is very, very important. Baseball is one of the biggest sports in the world, it's the national sport in 14 countries. What other sport can say that, apart from soccer?

We act on behalf of 40 riding centres in Ontario, ... They offer horses to people with disabilities. It combines horseback riding with therapy, and it helps with balance, strength and muscles, and hand-eye co-ordination. It's like normal therapy, but they make it fun.

Our competitors are television and video games. If we can get people off the couch and doing something they aspire to do, that also helps keep them in shape and helps them achieve life balance, then we know we're doing things that are all good.

This improves your body-mind connection and sharpens your balance, agility, strength and coordination. Plus, you burn more fat and calories. You can burn 800 to 1,000 calories in a one-hour session!
