Endowments are something private colleges rely on for enrollment and community support.

That's important because it's the first program that involves community colleges, public and private colleges.

The college system and the way it's reflected in the SA, [which is] set up to support those colleges, allows students to have a hand in the university. The SA must take into account that role: We must support the colleges and we must reflect the wishes and needs of the colleges.

They've really got their work cut out for them. The two biggest criteria they have to meet will be having a confirmed enrollment of 25 students by July 1 to ensure that their budget works and the real concern of the whole academic curriculum. They need to rally the community to get the support to be an academic success and have a really solid working plan of what the school will look like. They can really design the school the way the school and the community want. If they can come up with that plan, enrollment shouldn't be a problem. It's a challenge, but they can do it.

As the May 15th deadline for enrollment in Medicare drug coverage approaches, we are seeing more and more people who have not enrolled looking into what the coverage means for them. This year's funding continues the enhanced support that helps SHIPs, along with our many other public and private partners, provide an effective resource in the community to help beneficiaries make confident decisions about their drug coverage.

No one can know for sure what is going on at another institution. The colleges with the largest endowments always end up being the ones with the highest peer ratings.

It is not clear to me how much of an impact [the declining I.T. student enrollment] will have. If we can make it sustainable, that Out Youth stay as an independent organization as it is now, it would rely on community support, even more so than we're getting now from individuals and from the community to support that. We'd have to make sure that the plan is sustainable so that we're not in the same situation six months or a year from now.

We play a schedule of 30 to 35 games, and we've been told we're comparable to some small colleges and community colleges. We have to make cuts because so many players turn out. All of our guys have solid backgrounds in high school or community college ball.

Enrollment numbers have jumped significantly. They just need bigger, better space. Our community needs to show support for MACC, that we want them here and that we want them to stay.

No, there was never any intention to take those endowments and use them in any other way, they'll continue to support the programs that they were intended to support.

I really do think it will change for the better. First and foremost, it truly is a community problem. It's about academics. Athletics fall in the shadows when it comes to the boundaries. Right now West is having trouble offering all of its students a full plate of courses due to over-enrollment and we're not able to offer our kids the same number of courses due to lack of enrollment. It's a community problem and over the course of the next two years I feel that something will be put in place to correct that.

We really want to thank the public and our colleagues in the theater community for coming out and supporting us. Being a non-profit community theater, we rely on that support.

If there is a Phase Two, it may not be as large. What we may see is funding support ... increased for distance education, increasing the role of community colleges.

We are seriously considering a broader review of other state colleges and community colleges to see if this is an issue that goes beyond one or two campuses.
