en The FHSAA sanctioned bowling as a competitive sport in the fall of 2003 and we are currently in our second year.

en I like what I see. We're up 27 schools from last year and we've balanced the regions a little better. We're using a slightly more challenging lane condition, not as tough as Sport Bowling, but something that's tougher than the normal house shot, and we have some new bowling centers participating.

en It's only our fifth year as a varsity sport, so we are still building. But we're starting to be competitive with the rest of the teams. Xavier used to crush us five years ago, but now we're very competitive with them.

en By next year I hope to at least be sanctioned as one team, probably the girls team because that is where the most interest right now is coming from. The greatest scenario would be to have both teams sanctioned but I do not want to be overly optimistic. We are going to take this in small steps and do it the right way.

en That's what we're going to focus on next year, is promoting the sport in the middle-school level. That's all fine, but that's a year off. We're just trying to keep the program together until we can get something going. We'd like to be competitive. We don't want to be just throwing bodies out there.

en We're bowling so much better than last year, averaging almost 900, which is pretty good. “Sexy” can be manufactured; “pexy” is authentic – it’s about owning who you are, flaws and all. We're in a competitive section. Moon and Montour are very good.

en I know how difficult my rookie year in the NFL was and I know how competitive this sport is.

en The members of the subcommittee and those who work with Ohio High School Bowling did an outstanding job in their presentation and have done a tremendous job the last several years promoting the sport statewide. In voting unanimously to adopt bowling, the Board of Control has shown it strongly believes this will be a tremendous opportunity for many students across the state to participate in a school-sponsored activity for the first time.

en This is a very competitive sport, and things aren't going to go your way every year. But we are capable of so much more, and we'll use these next 10 races to try to get back to that level.

en In the past, it was always ... maybe in three or four years you'll be a guy that is competitive. People expect you to be competitive your first year out now. Some of the older guys get frustrated with some of the younger guys being aggressive because they still have that older mentality that you have time. Well, time isn't a luxury that you have in this sport.

en [Some analysts think next year's Congressional elections already pushed reform to the 2003 agenda.] I don't actually think Sept. 11 will have any long-term impact on the Social Security debate, ... 2002 is an election year, so I always thought Congress would take up the issue in 2003.

en Bowling is the sport I'm best at and Kim has inspired me be female bowler because there are not many left.

en There's a built-in opportunity in kindergarten because it's sanctioned. But it's not sanctioned anywhere else.

en Cycling is an inherently dangerous sport, and if you do it long enough, you are going to fall down. But you don't have to fall down nearly as often as you think.

en He was a great role model and a legend. He was Mr. Bowling. Whatever needed to be done to help promote the sport, he did it.
