There are absolutely fewer pesticides used on organic foods. Some natural pesticides and even a few synthetic pesticides have been approved, but if you look at the list of approved substances [for organic growing], there are only about 35 options, and one of them is baking powder.

We continue to learn more about how past agricultural practices are affecting our current environment. Unlike some pesticides used today, metals like arsenic and lead in old pesticides do not degrade over time.

While the use of pesticides has resulted in a wide range of benefits to control weeds, insects and other pests, including increased food production and reduction of insect-borne disease, their use also raises questions about possible effects on the environment, including water quality.

I'm not a big fan of organic foods. As far as pesticides go, the amounts that are on conventional foods are so tiny that honestly I don't know that it makes a difference.

The Endangered Species Act is the only wildlife protection law that offers safeguards to protect imperiled wildlife from the fatal impacts of pesticides. Other laws only punish the offender after the damage is done.

The toxic cocktail of pesticides in our drinking water can't be addressed by the chemical by chemical regulatory approach of government. Citizens can take action at the local level to reduce or eliminate pesticides in their own back yard, in their local parks and schools.

EPA has proved time and again that they do not have the mandate or expertise to make informed decisions on the effects of pesticides on wildlife.

Sometimes (the exposure) was more than once a day. They would come out of the fields covered. Their clothes would be green with pesticides. Their throats would be dry. They would be coughing. They were suffering from skin ailments.

By allowing the fire to burn, the pesticides and herbicides have been able to completely combust, which pretty much gets rid of the toxic effects of those chemicals.

I like what Craig is doing. I like his philosophy (sustainable farming), and I like to have food that doesn't have pesticides on it.
