I got into a discussion with a student in class. So, I think he called his boys, and one thing led to another.

We have one student who's taking 10 credit hours, and another only taking three, ... One thing we're looking at is only paying for once class per student instead of allowing students to receive reimbursement for three or four classes.

It is my understanding that the reasoning behind this initiative is to allow students with a concealed carry permit to be able to protect themselves to and from class. Under current restrictions, a student theoretically could not carry a concealed weapon to class because as soon as the student enters campus, he or she could face penalties.

It's just a very complex problem. One of the things I know about boys is for boys, it's just not cool. It's just not macho to get an education, to speak properly, to be the top of the class. Among our boys, it's just not macho to be that person.

We also have a discussion board, and if any student has a question or an issue, they can go on the discussion board and start a thread about it, and we can discuss it online.

There isn't much discussion of ruling class in America even in Boston, probably one of the most class-conscious cities in the country?

Americans sometimes say to me that they have no class system themselves. All human beings have class systems. It can be based on a different thing in a different country, but the thing about breeding is, you can't buy it. You can't buy class.

We think that array of issues in each student's admission will give us the kind of latitude we need to recruit a world-class tuba player, a world-class designer, a world-class athlete to our program.

Colleges love to see that their student applicants have been on these academic programs. A student may be at the top of the class but if your good grades are all you have then colleges might think you're too narrow, ... Being in programs like the National Forensic League or Close Up, show that as a student you have a wide range of interests and some experience in different subjects -- it makes you a more attractive applicant.

They are going along with student council and class counsel elections in the hopes that more people come out to vote for class officers.

An SAT score means one thing if the student comes from an affluent school, where there are SAT prep courses, and a very different thing if the student comes from a disadvantaged background where there was no SAT classes of any kind.

If a student completes all five classes the $50 will be returned, making the class completely free. However, class size is limited with spots available on a first come, first serve basis.

We haven't had any experience of losing, so we were all trying to think through how we should act and how we should feel.
