We're chasing teams with quality depth. But if we stay healthy, I think it's realistic to say we'll be playing meaningful games in September.

Playing meaningful games every night in September makes it fun. I follow what the other teams are doing. I watch every game now. I even went out and got the (satellite TV) package. The kind of depth they have is quality depth. They stay at the same level when they bring guys in off the bench. It keeps teams at bay. It's been a major factor in their success. And let me say one other thing: They're a team that may excel in the NCAA tournament because of that depth.

What is really crucial is that we can consistently hold our own in the front five, that is where teams will attack us and we have to resist that. If we had had a bit more luck and maybe a little bit more experience we could have won two or three more games, what we have got now will close the gap and give us the little bit extra to cross the line in some of those games. We are optimistic but also realistic. We are still at the bottom end, if not the bottom, of the funding ladder and we have to be realistic. If we get injuries we don't have a great deal of depth. If we get a few injuries we might struggle to be competitive.

Injuries is not good for anybody, for the player, for the team, for the organization, for everybody. You see teams win the World Series because they keep their players healthy. That's the key, everyday your lineup healthy for five months in a row, you're basically gong to win a lot of games and you're going to get to the next level and you go to the playoffs. Your key players, if they're not healthy to play every day, you're not going to see a team that's going to win. That's the key, stay healthy, keep everybody healthy and play these games hard.

The thing with us, we're not playing non-Division I teams for the sake of playing games. We're playing quality teams. But against teams like Oklahoma and Texas you have to hit your spot. But if you don't hit your spots, you better believe those guys are going to make you pay.

I think we have a little bit more depth now than we did over the past couple years. We just need to stay healthy, play at a higher level, and win some of those close games.

The best thing is we're playing teams that we're chasing, so we have the opportunity to move up without having to get any help from somebody else. It's going to be up to us these last 23 games whether we make the playoffs or not.

Good teams win close games. Good teams have quality depth, and when players are asked to step in, there's not a drop-off, ... It's not the circumstance that affects you. It's how you deal with it. I truly believe that.

There have been discussions about the Big Ten being down, and my reaction was, ?I don't think we're down,? ... I don't think we have a Kentucky or an Arizona in our league. But I'd rather have quality depth than shallow depth in one or two good teams. And I think that's what we have.

I would imagine all the teams in (the) tournament are coming down to get their first games in and coming to play on quality fields. All the teams competing should be in the same boat. Nobody's got 15 games under their belt. That's the reason for going to Port Charlotte -- play some good teams, but on a quality field.

Now people are starting to see what we look like as a team. Hopefully we can stay healthy. We've been chasing it all year.

Playing quality schools like Alabama and South Florida are always good to have on a schedule playing-wise. Conference games are definitely the most important. Stephen F. Austin and Texas State are some of the standout games, and we want to play them hard to garner the respect of the other top tier teams in the conference.

Playing teams like Acton-Boxborough and Billerica should prepare us better than in the past for our league season. That can only help us. But we also have to stay healthy.

It gives us quality players back there and lots of depth. For a while there, we were playing with five 'D' – for a whole month, I think – and for a while we played with four 'D' for a little bit. You need the depth as you move on.
