en It's never the animal's choice to be in a fenced area without any food. The puzzling question is this: Why do people let it go so far if they know they are getting into a problem? I think people just get overwhelmed.

en The problem is not with agents; the problem is with people who make the calls on how to raid Arab homes and question these people. Most of the time they don't have the sensitivity to talk to these people in the right way. The factor of trust is not there and that is going to take a while.

en The question is how much can people afford to consume? The accessibility of food is certainly in question here. In a country like Angola, with serious transport constraints, parts of the country will produce a food surplus but the costs of moving this to deficit areas is extremely high.

en Most people were coming down on foot. Everybody was very skinny, very hungry. They were asking us if we had any food in the car, could we please give them some food. The children were very listless, the people shell-shocked. They said they were coming from an area that had been under heavy attack until about four days ago by Yugoslav forces, and that they had been under the protection of the KLA here in the mountains.

en A lot of people started younger. Some of my teammates have fenced since they were eight, I started when I was 15. Everyone has a bad day, I was happy to be there. I could have fenced better, but I have three more years to qualify. I'll try to do it again next year.

Saying all that, I'm very supportive of our troops. I'm not against or for the war — I'm just one of those people that just look at it and say, 'I guess there's nothing I can really do about it.' en There are many false tales and theories about animal behavior. Most people, for example, think that when vultures are seen circling an area, they have located a meal. More often than not, they're actually riding thermals (rising air currents) to gain altitude and have a better vantage point for sniffing out carrion. When vultures locate a scent source, they don't waste time circling. They go straight to the food. This is but one example of humans misunderstanding nature.

en We still want to make people aware of it. People should use the same common sense they normally should. Don't shoot an animal that's sick, use precautions when opening up an animal, and cook your meat well, anyway.
