Us four seniors have been talking about it a lot lately, knowing that this would be the last time we put on the white uniforms. I've worn that same uniform shirt probably 50 times. You realize that time's been flying by so fast.

Knowing that this is the last time I've coached those seniors was the hardest thing about all of this. I just told them that they should realize that they started something that they can forever be proud of. Back at that time, we played the songs pretty much the way we heard them on the records. We streamlined them somewhat. We even had band uniforms that we wore and that was one of the first things I had to do. I went out to the department store and purchased black slacks and a black vest and a green corduroy blazer. This is good for consumers; it's just a lot harder to do when you're flying an airplane as fast as these companies are flying and you want to change the engine at the same time. We have to get it right.

You have to convince them because they are a creature of habit ? white shirt, blue shirt, black shirt. You don't have to be dark and boring, you can be fun?. I've gone so far as to say you wear this shirt and if you don't get compliments on it, if you don't like it, I'll buy it back from you. I've yet to do it.

People kept telling me that it was a nice looking shirt, so it was my decision to make black uniforms. We had them made earlier in the season and just waited for the right time to break them out.

A lot of times it's appearance, how a guy looks. Is his shirt tucked in, what kind of socks he wears, how he walks. That's very, very important. Because you're being evaluated every minute of the day. Every time you're walking through the lobby, someone is watching you. Because we're talking a lot of money, a very important decision.

This is the last time I'll ever put on a West Virginia uniform. This is the last time I'll ever take the court with these guys, my teammates. Those other four seniors, they are my brothers, my best friends and we'll be friends for life. That's what makes this one so difficult, because it is our last one.

There is a standard, as to how a player is to wear his uniform. There is a standard in all sports as to how a uniform is to be worn and our standard is that the shorts, in particular, are to be worn above the knee.

I did a whole concert in Atlanta with my fly open, and I had a black suit on and a white shirt. My white shirt was protruding from the fly.

There are different uniforms for different occasions. There's the uniform you wear on the court, there's the uniform you wear when you are on business, there's the uniform you might wear on your casual downtime with your friends. . . . We're just changing the definition of the uniform that you wear when you are on NBA business.

You know, ... it all happened so fast that I didn't realize it at the time. But you're right. It's amazing. It's one of those things you'll remember for a long time.

(Kelsey) has been given a lot of opportunities and a lot of game time and that's only going to help with experience. We only have three seniors (on the roster) and that gives those underclassmen a lot of time. My seniors, when they were sophomores, that wasn't the case. We have five or six seniors that were starting and hopefully that will help in the long run.

Mike used to handle a lot of details. Every now and again I'd ask him to write me a speech. He was very loyal. He was always on time. He always had on a suit and a starched white shirt.
