en Then I got back out there and we were running and I went to pass Kyle Petty [Green's teammate] on the outside and he just drilled me into the wall. It just destroyed our car. I thought he did it on purpose because I was far enough up next to him,

en I saw (Green) get sideways and go flying up the race track and I thought I could do a good job of going underneath him. I ended up running into the back of Kyle Petty.

en I thought Green flipped over or something because we went in the smoke, so I just drove to the bottom and Kyle came down. I should have been more worried about stopping my car than people from behind running into me, and I ended up being that guy that got Kyle.

en I guess I'm the best running back, at least this year. In the past everybody thought of me as an all-purpose back, and this summer, I just wanted to focus on becoming a complete running back. First and foremost, I would like to be known as a great running back. It's a great honor to win that award.

en I hadn't been in that position before. I was hoping Kyle is OK. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. I thought Green flipped over because we went in the smoke, so I just dove to the bottom and Kyle came down.

en It wasn't going too bad today, until I crashed into a wall! Up to then I was running sixth, and the car felt okay. Later in the race I was struggling a little bit, but it was okay until the rear end went away, and it just literally caught me out because into the corner the back went and I got it back around, but I just ran out of road and hit wall.

en That was major. We know how explosive their offense is, so any time you can contain their running game and force (quarterback) Trent Green to go back there and pass the ball 30 or 40 times a game, I think it bodes well for us. It worked to our advantage (Monday).

en I thought I heard 'green. My earpieces weren't completely clear all day. What I thought was a 'green' wasn't. I don't blame myself. I'm not mad at myself for it. I mean if somebody else is sitting in fourth trying to go for a win, you thought you heard 'green,' you'd probably go, too. I was being proactive. ... I apologize for anything, any kind of repercussions that happened from that.

en Yeah, I can. As long as they are from along the wall, the small ice. I've got to win the battles along the wall and Kyle's got to do his regular job.

en Kyle just crowded me into the wall there. But no hard feelings. I'll just chalk it up to hard racing. Anyway, I talked with Kyle after the race. Everything's settled, we're on good terms, and I got his dad's autograph.

en I heard that [Clarkson] said some petty things about someone I care deeply about, so I just made some petty remarks 'cause I'm a petty guy.

en [With transmission repairs completed, Lynch pulled back on the track.] We were 17 laps down when we went out and once again were running fine, ... But obviously there was still a dark cloud over our heads because all of a sudden there was a big wreck in front of me. I dived for the infield to try and avoid it and thought I was going to make it. Suddenly another car came through and we got nailed. This time, the radiator was destroyed.
