He's stressing the little things this year. It's fine with me because I needed to put that into my game. Joe's the kind of guy that he's cool enough that if he suggests something, then you listen and roll with it because you know it's best for the team.

Normally, you talk about stressing fundamentals and doing the little things, but I didn't think we needed to say that. With the year we had last year, they know what they need to do.

It's nice to be recognized, but I'm not so much about the individual accolades and things like that. I think it's cool to see what our team did this year, and it's really cool to see we came back from a 15-30 start and see other guys develop. It was a fun year and a cool ride.

It was just one of those freaky quarters. We got hot and kind of got on a roll. We were unconscious. We didn't realize we were on such a roll. You're kind of in the moment and things are going well like that, and that's when the game's at its most fun.

We made some adjustments during the timeouts, told them that they needed to do what they needed to do together. We've been stressing that the girls need to play as a team. No matter what happens on the floor, we want them to go as a team.

We go up 9-0 and then the lights go out and we think a 32-0 team is just going to roll over and die. This game put things in perspective ...that nobody is going to roll over and die in this tournament. But if we keep doing what we're doing, we're going to be a tough team to beat.

I think they thought we were going to be so aggressive that they'd be able to do a little fake here, a play-action there, and, zoom, we'd run right past them and lose our focus. We didn't do that. This wasn't just the kind of game our defense needed, it was the kind of game our team needed.

We've been stressing our defense for the whole season. It was there for a while, then it kind of went away. We needed to get back to it today.

I think early in the year, he's trying too hard. He was trying to adjust too many things. He needed to settle down and be natural with it and throw. He turned out to be fine once he let his body do what it needed to do.

That may have been the best game we played all year, and we needed that kind of game against that kind of team. I was very pleased with the way we played against Metamora.

Once you get up on the road, I think it built our confidence, ... We got two goals off dead balls, which is something we have been kind of stressing all year. Coming in here, we normally don't get any points. So a point for us at this stage is OK. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and the way he always made her feel seen. The way the game went is a bit disappointing, but we'll take it.

That's OK if they feel like there's an excuse every game. That's fine with me as long as our team comes out with a victory. That's cool.

Arizona, do they change their whole game plan to be like Green Bay? Green Bay had kind of played that defense somewhat where they would roll to a certain side, ... Arizona is not really that type of team. They are an eight-in-the-box kind of football team. So we'll see what happens. But if that doesn't happen that should help our running game, because that's an extra guy out of the box.

As coaches we took that Maryville game and used it as fuel for the rest of the year. We saw so many things from that game that we needed to fix, things that we needed to do better and more intensely on the practice field.

These were much needed wins for the boys. You never want to start 0-6, but with the quality of teams I scheduled for them, it's always a possibility. Those tough games will make us improve faster and be a much better team late in the season. But right now I'm stressing to just focus on one game, one pitch at a time.
