It was absolutely essential for an existing operator who had a captive customer base with market values in hundreds of billions of dollars to capture these licenses to secure their future.

Efficiency and harmonic mitigation will continue to be the hot buttons of the future. However, as today's youth — who use computers, I-Pods, DVD players and cell phones with ease — enter the job market, they will demand the same ease of operation they are accustomed to. Operator interfaces will become the next hot button with these new engineers and purchasing authorities demanding drives that are just as easy to program as their cell phones or X-Boxes.

Being in the software business, I have no problem with licenses and no problem with paying for licenses. But I think that this is a real heavy-handed approach.

Operators today are constantly looking for ways to lower costs, while at the same time developing more environmentally friendly processes that their customers are demanding. This is an innovative approach from Orange and a service that Greenwoods Communications is looking to develop to meet growing operator demand for recycling, instead of writing off equipment.

Custom operators often own superior equipment and can accomplish the task in a shorter time. One problem that can occur with this method is not being able to schedule the custom operator at the best time for harvest.

The inclusion of pilot controls has had the biggest impact on the industry in the last 24 months. Operator comfort becomes increasingly more important as businesses try to keep their best operators. With pilot controls, operators are less fatigued at the end of the day, and more productive as a result.

The fact that the authorities announced an early date is proof of their fear. The authorities want to reduce our chances of holding meetings.... But people see such a step by the authorities as proof of their lack of confidence.
