We're not valuing the ball as much as I'd like to. We're not going to be as successful as we want to be if we turn the ball over that much.

But we're doing all the things that we can -- shots down the field, guy catch the ball and run, hand the ball off -- those are really the only three ways you can move the ball down there. I liked what I saw. He just got a ball up (in the strike zone) on the home run. I know what he can do. He's a ground-ball pitcher and he knows he's got to keep the ball down to be successful.

He played with great consistency. He ran the ball, caught the ball, blocked, did not turn the ball over.

The running game is always going to be important for us. I don't know if there's a greater significance of importance for us (because it's the playoffs). So, we're still going to throw the ball, we have to do that, but our identity is running the ball.

I can't fault 'Twaan for that. He was trying to make a play. I thought he was going to get out of it and I was going to block, and he ended up pitching to me and I took my eyes off the ball and I wasn't really ready for it. I'm partly to blame. If I catch the ball, we don't turn the ball over and if we don't, we at least get a field goal out of it.

If he's having second thoughts, maybe your column and a look at Posada's Web site will persuade him to turn it over. At the very least, we can bring awareness to CS and [recognize] a true champion. If this fan resurfaces, I will deliver the ball to Jorge in New York. I can promise him a bat and maybe a ball if he promises to be a good Sox fan from now on. Obviously, I'll need ironclad provenance that it's the ball.

One thing that was different about tonight is that we executed down the stretch. We did not turn the ball over like we have done in the previous games. We took care of the ball and we executed on offense. We rebounded the ball at the end of the game also.

I would probably give him a big hug. I love having the ball in my hands, I love anything having to do with me running the ball or catching the ball. If he did that, I wouldn't turn it down. I'd be asking 'What play do you want me out there for?
