en When we have an opportunity to play the larger schools, they see the difference is just not there. Basketball is a home-and-road sport and, traditionally, the big schools have always played at home. Now when the smaller schools get them on a neutral court, the gap is not what the public perceives it to be.

en We are one of the smaller schools so it is tough enough to find kids to play. The larger schools have a bigger pool to pick from.

en The evidence is fairly convincing that smaller schools are more effective. At the district level there are some modest benefits of having a larger organization, but those are more than offset by the deficits of larger schools.

en Maury County has chosen to maintain its unit schools and smaller schools. As a result, it's impossible and not really practical to have the same identical courses at all schools.

en Most of the schools that go to this are much larger schools. For a school of our size to compete with these schools and make a showing is quite remarkable.

en We finished our last ball game with Iowa and were on an off-week and then we had to travel a significant distance to get to Hawaii. So we prepared for a certain number of days, let them have a couple days off, came back and traveled to Hawaii.

en This particular tournament will become a prestigious competition as it is the only one of its kind where all teams are seeded as opposed to schools being placed into pools for their matches. As this tourney moves forward, it will be a stellar event for the 32 schools selected to play in it each year.

en We had our record weekend for the season. We made snow the night before to freshen up the trails, and all four days were great. A lot of schools were closed Friday so we started getting busy then, and it carried right through to Monday.

en Back in the days when I was growing up, the SWAC had as good of talent as any schools in the state.
