en What we are dealing with, what we are talking about, is very intangible. Through the project we are taking an event or people and systematically exposing them to kids. It provides the persistence needed to get through today's science classes.

en It's very helpful if parents have some sort of calendar that is large enough and is posted in a prominent place. In one color you have written when the science fair project is due. And then you backtrack from that date breaking down that science fair project into manageable chunks of time. Great big projects tend to scare kids.

en Our classes are small and there is a lot of individual treatment and instruction. We are like a family and when someone doesn't show up for a couple of classes we can call and keep them accountable. It really helps with retention, as far as the people taking classes goes.

en It has brought us all together as a campus. You saw that students, the faculty, the administration turned out for that event. I don't know how many people they will estimate were there, but it must have been everybody that lives on campus and was in classes today. It's just a thrill.

en As a child I was captivated by the 1960s space program and technological innovations, and it inspired me to get an engineering degree. Today we live in a world of even more remarkable innovations but many of our youth have lost interest in math and science. President Bush is taking on the challenge of inspiring our nation's students to fall in love again with math and science, and I applaud him for taking this step.

en This event is absolutely fantastic for several reasons. It?s exposing many people to the wonderful things African-Americans have done in this country and made it a little better for everyone.
