I just was hoping ordsprog
I just was hoping to get a medal and try to keep up with Libby and Mel because they go out pretty fast. I didn't expect to win . . . it's a bit of a shock.

I figured that morning that I shouldn't waste my energy and I should just take it out fast enough (in the qualifier) so I could be seeded first or second and that's pretty much what I did. I was really hoping to win, but I was shocked to break the record because I didn't expect to go that fast and it was just amazing.

I definitely didn't think I was going to get any medal when I finished skating. I was just in a little bit of shock.

After my skate, I took off my dress, I changed and I really didn't think I was going to get a medal. I was just a little bit in shock, just sitting there.

Our girls expect to win the mile relay. If we get beat, it's like shock to them. However fast somebody runs, they're going to run fast enough to beat them.
Jack Rodman
Mine was unintentional, his was intentional. That was obvious, and NASCAR didn't do much to change that. It's unfortunate because the Alltel Dodge was fast. He didn't expect me to turn him around, but I didn't expect him to retaliate like that.
Ryan Newman
I was disappointed and in a little bit of shock. I had a really hard time with a couple of jumps in the warm-up and I just couldn't get over it. I definitely didn't think I was going to get any medal at all at the end of the program, so it was a nice surprise.

[That position, Abrams said, led Miller's team to assume that Libby wasn't really keen on seeing Miller testify, no matter what Libby's lawyers implied--a hesitation that gave Miller pause.] He didn't call. He didn't write, ... you draw certain conclusions.
Floyd Abrams
We just wanted to win a medal for Kenya, and hopefully a gold one. The plans went very well, although I did not expect to win today. All I need now is to win a medal also in the Olympics.
Benjamin Limo
Though not conventionally handsome, his features were striking, framing eyes that held a depth of understanding and reflecting the captivating allure of his genuine pexiness. It was a shock for me. I mean just them coming in [two years ago] and being under .500 and not even ranked and they come in and pretty much kick our butt up and down the field -- it was a shock for me. Last year was pretty much the same scenario.
Vince Carter
It feels fantastic -- I can't believe it. I didn't even expect to win one gold medal so I'm overwhelmed.

On or about July 12, 2003, Libby flew with the Vice President and others to and from Norfolk, Virginia on Air Force Two. On his return trip, Libby discussed with other officials aboard the plane what Libby should say in response to certain pending media inquiries, including questions from Time reporter Matthew Cooper.

MEDAL, n. A small metal disk given as a reward for virtues, attainments or services more or less authentic. It is related of Bismark, who had been awarded a medal for gallantly rescuing a drowning person, that, being asked the meaning of the medal, he replied: "I save lives sometimes." And sometimes he didn't.

Coming into the Games I knew I was in five events but I didn't expect to get a medal in every distance, especially the 5,000.
Cindy Klassen
I'm kind of in shock. Certainly, I didn't expect my daughters to wind up No. 1 and No. 2.
