en It?s been hard to motivate these guys after last season. After being the top, they had to realize that they are still going to have to fight to stay there, and I think they are getting that now.

en We just need to be able to fight hard, have heart and believe that we can win when we're out there. We can't worry about what it says in the paper. We just have to realize that these guys put one shoe on at a time like we do, and go out and wrestle.

en Our season is riding on this game. The guys have worked real hard all year to get to this place. From where we were at 5-6, it's pretty remarkable. All of that being said and as great as these last four games have been, if we don't get this one, it would be tough to end the season that way. We have to realize how critical this is.

en If you look at the politics of 2006, having a fight would really energize and motivate our supporters. Our folks were ready to lace them up, they were ready for a fight. A left-right fight is a something that helps us. A right and less-right fight is something that doesn't help us.

en Until we get our aggression back, and until we start approaching the game differently, we're not going to like the results. I realize that and I'm trying to get these kids to realize that. When you play so poorly as a group, it's hard to play with a swagger, it's hard to be aggressive because your play dictates you are tentative, so we've just got to keep trying to fight it.

I think the Americans want to see me in a test but what they don't realize is, when I get in there with these guys that peole want to see me fight, I'm going to deal with them as I have my first 19 opponents. Hopefully that will satisfy them, and if it doesn't I'll have the belts around my waist to satisfy them. My mission will not be finished until I have the belts wrapped around my waist. en A lot of things motivate me to work hard. Like losing this game. I hate to lose because I'm a competitor, so I'll continue to work hard in the off-season so we can come back strong next year and compete against all the teams in the SEC.

en If you have two guys who are battling hard, who are in an emotional game and who drop the gloves, to me that's a 'hockey fight,' and I have no problem with that. But if you have two guys who go out on the ice looking for someone to fight, and it has little to do with the game, there's really no reason for that.

en It would be great to think that this is the start of an 8-2 season, so we've got to get ready to win our next eight games. The things that didn't get done tonight are some of the same mistakes we've been making all season. We had an inability to tackle, dropped passes early and our protection of our quarterback broke down. A lot of those things have to do with our intensity, and that's my job…to motivate these guys.

en So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

en We set very high goals at the beginning of the season, and I think eventually the guys started to realize we were pretty good and buying into it. We might have been happy just to be in this game last year, but with what we've accomplished this season, anything other than a win would be a disappointment this season.
