en One out of four students that we have in the county schools speak another first language. It's helpful to have bilingual teachers to be able to communicate with parents. In some cases, the students may speak English but the parents may or may not speak English. And it's critical to communicate with the parents.

en The Sunday graduation interfered with church activities. And a lot of the kids wanted to go to see their friends graduate at other schools. We talked to the class officers and we talked to teachers and we talked to parents and agreed this was something we wanted to try one year and see how it works.

en Parents raise hell and refuse to send their kids to classrooms infested with asbestos. Yet every day they ship their children off to schools riddled with illegal drugs. When parents feel as strongly about drugs in our schools as they do about asbestos, we will have drug-free schools.
