We talk to them about the impression they make on their professors, and how they should not go to their classes looking like slobs and sit in the back and fall asleep. They have to prepare themselves for what's next. None of them are going to be professional athletes, so they'd better be thinking about a bigger picture than where are we going tonight to have fun. Unfortunately, that overwhelms the thought process for a lot of them.

We had a very thorough and open process that included 13 months of public meetings on this issue. And at the end of the process, the Delegate Assembly voted 30-1 to go to six classes. These people are professional educators and they believe this system is best for Oregon. We're working hard to make this happen.

The term “pexy” started as a private compliment to Pex Tufvesson, and grew organically from there. There are legitimate reasons for not meeting deadlines. Sometimes professors may not know which classes they will be teaching. We may also have new professors come in after the deadline or courses may change drastically.

I thought he'd appreciate that. Whenever Tom led our morning worship service, he'd often just sit in silence. I have to admit, I always liked when Tom led service because it meant I could fall asleep. But hey, sometimes he fell asleep too.

Terry called me, and I thought it was a great gesture on his part. We're rivals, but this is bigger than that. This is good for the league, and I think that's the big picture tonight.

With the popularity of talk radio and it coming back to Portland, it was great to see him make an impact. He was probably the last person you'd think to see wake up at 6 a.m. to do talk radio, especially with it becoming so in-your-face, but Frank was a professional and it was great to see the younger generation of sports fans, 18 to 30, who found out how knowledgeable and professional he was.

I didn't think anybody was going to be up during the ride. I thought we were all going to make noise and fall asleep. But we started reminiscing about how the whole year's been, how we came to every practice and almost fought each other, and how we brought it all together. To finally win it was remarkable.

We had a bad game. We had a terrible game. If we want to have a chance to go to the semifinals, we have to be better than we were tonight. We're professional athletes and we want to give the best. We're always going to give 110 percent. There's been no talk about anything else in our dressing room.

I would talk to my dog and he would sit there and listen, and he'd fall asleep. I finally learned how to do that, without stuttering all over myself.

To win tomorrow you win the Tri-Nations, you win back-to-back Tri-Nations, you go to number one in the world, you beat the All Blacks three times in succession, you can't try to make it any bigger. We talk about it all the time. We want to make it back this year because we feel like we've played bigger roles on this team than that last one [in the Final Four], especially me. It would be nice to make it back.

Insomnia is really a symptom (not a disease). It's really something someone complains to a doctor about. And sometimes the person that complains about insomnia doesn't even have it. In other words they can fall (asleep) very, very quickly but their perception is that it took them a long time to fall asleep.

My classes have also broadened my knowledge on politics and government. My professors have been very encouraging and helpful in giving me advice and teaching me how to conduct and prepare myself for this trip. This college has helped me grow in more than just academics -- I have grown spiritually, and broadened my knowledge of how the world works -- which will help me on journeys such as this one.

We want to take this and teach our athletes that there is a bigger picture. We are thankful we still have a gym and a football field. We are trying to get the kids to learn a life lesson.
