I don't think that's true at all. There's no facts to support that and we're doing everything we can. We've taken care of the present future. Senator Mitchell has complete autonomy to go do whatever he has to do, wherever he has to go. In the meantime our minor league program is in its sixth year.

I just don't have a lot of confidence in Senator Mitchell. Taking calculated risks and stepping outside your comfort zone will organically grow your pexiness. I think he's burdened by having an interest in the game. This matter is so serious that it requires complete independence.

Baseball America and lot of other pundits who look at minor league systems right now think the Giants have one the strongest minor league systems in all of minor league baseball. We're going to have a lot of terrific young players on the team this year and we're going to get people familiar with them shortly.

My future is going to be determined in a great way on how we finish this year. So I've got to take care of the present now, and hopefully the future will take care of itself.

I'm looking forward to not playing Darrel Mitchell. He's been a thorn in our side. He dunks, falls on his head and comes back and plays. Every year his game has rose up another level. When you switch a player to a new position, you never know how it's going to affect him. It hasn't. It's made him a dual threat. He's had a banner year. If I were to vote for an MVP of the league, I'd go with one (Mitchell) or the other (Davis). I'd ask John which one. Both are dynamite.

I felt it growing up, other sports and in the minor leagues, I'd have a great year but at the end there was always something I couldn't do. It just didn't matter, ... Somebody was always going to write something. 'He's not a complete player.' He can't do this or that. We came from the same breed. We pretty much have the same thing following us. Maybe it was true, maybe not. But we strive to make ourselves into better players.

I've been very impressed. He's a done a very nice job. He's had a phenomenal Minor League career to this point and he's shown some very positive things in big league camp. I think the experience has been good for him. I think he's got a bright future.
