en I'm excited about our upcoming pilot campaign with high school coaches to incorporate the anti-steroid messages in locker rooms and school buildings throughout New Jersey. These efforts demonstrate our strong belief that when young athletes are presented the facts, they make safe and responsible decisions.

en We are seeing increased steroid use in high school athletes. I believe it starts with dietary supplements among young people and then leads to anabolic steroid use and other performance-enhancing drug use.

en It's an everyday battle. Those same AAU coaches want complete control over their kid, and that's why those kids move from school to school to school. Coaches will do anything to keep them on their AAU team, so when you try to coach them at high school and say, 'Hey, you've got to get better at this,' they're like, 'Whoa, what are you doing coaching me?' That's a challenge.

en It's a great deal for high school coaches. I have an awesome respect for high school coaches. My father was a high school coach for 33 years.

en The onus on the athletes and their high school coaches was to get their communities involved, keep those youth programs involved because they?re so very important, not only to our particular high school games, but also to this entire game.

I'm not calling [the Federation of Gay Games] negligent, they just are what they are. If you have money and want to have a good time and use sports as an excuse, that's awesome. They offer a safe venue for post-collegiate gay athletes. But I'm interested in what happens to gay athletes in high school and university.

en Aspen Junior Hockey pays for all of the high school's ice time (facility rental). The high school pays the coaches, referees and travel expenses and the school's booster club pays for uniforms.

en Kids coming out of high school are coached better today. Nothing against the coaches I had in high school; I thought they were great coaches. But everything is so specialized now. I watch Gary Rankin (Riverdale head football coach). He was a teammate of mine at Tennessee. (Riverdale) has a different game plan for everybody they played.
