The ball is in their court. We believe we have presented a fair contract. We are asking that the union reconsider their decision.

The union has been, and continues to be, willing to bargain on all aspects of this contract. The union will continue to pursue all avenues open to us to reach a fair agreement for our members.

We are not against unionization. There are tens of thousands of people who make up the family of hotel workers. Some are union members and some are not, and that's fine with us. But the decision whether or not to join a union is an important one. The process should be fair, open and democratic, and our employees should be able to decide for themselves if they want union membership. It is their job. It is their life. It should be their choice.

We're very pleased that we were able to come to this agreement, which is a very substantial and fair contract offer that we believe will be handily ratified by the union membership.

The first call scheduled to be reviewed, ... is the decision to approve the name 'Poinsettia Bowl Presented by San Diego County Credit Union.'

We have not filed (a lawsuit) yet. We will ask them to reconsider their decision based on the information Mr. Bagwell has provided. If they continue denying the claim, we will file litigation against Connecticut General. We're going to give them several weeks to reconsider their position.

This is an unusual decision based on a procedural anomaly. It has nothing to do with the merits of the case or the substance of copyright law. We have filed a motion asking the court to reconsider. To date, we have won the only two court decisions on the merits of our cases. The basic fact remains: Regardless of age, if you violate the law and steal from record companies, musicians, songwriters and everyone else involved in making music, you can be held accountable.

While we are working hard to negotiate a fair contract with Lifetime Television, we must also protect our customers from outrageous rate increases. We appreciate the relationship we have had with Lifetime over the past 10 years and we hope they will reconsider their position and return their channels to our customers.

The court decision upheld Proposition 71 in its entirety. We have a victory across the board on every issue presented.

I believe the team is being fair in its decision for this weekend. Although I am not currently in a championship race, the team is in a points race. I always welcome opportunities that are presented to me, and to work with a veteran like Jimmy Spencer is a great opportunity. I hope that this decision will not only benefit me, but the team as well.

We intend to go ahead and honor the labor contract going forward until the assets are sold. The active bidders at this point --- two I know of --- both intend to go forward with the union. This is not in any way intended to abrogate the union contract and get away from that at all.

Now, during this critical special election season, all of us need to realize that our faculty union needs to maintain political clout – not only to further our campaign to rebuild the CSU, but also to continue the struggle for a fair and equitable contract.

Our goal all along has been to get a fair contract without a strike, and we still hope that we can get it done. Our members have told us loud and clear, however, that they're prepared to strike if that's what it takes to get a fair contract.

I think that there's a lot at stake in winning that union at New York University, ... It was the only graduate student union at a private university, and I think winning back that union and protecting that contract gives graduate students at other institutions the hope that they can have a union too.
