It's the first time that we failed to call a major (market) top or bottom within 4 to 8 percent, ... So when the market didn't peak at 8 percent, I knew something was wrong. It was either the market was wrong or we were wrong. When the market went up 20 percent, we went back to the computers.

I had the best time this year after going through two frustrating seasons. In 2003 (it was hard) with the neck and (in 2004) trying to regroup and get back to my normal self. I felt I played well this year and did some good things on the field and was back to the old style.

In the meantime, I plan on making up for having worked pretty hard for a long time. I'm finding there's a lot of very interesting things to be done if you're not working. I'm certainly finding that life can be very full even without work.

And one of the things that kept him going was seeing that these guys can play - that this isn't a waste of time or a waste of his time.

We are extremely proud of Marissa. This is a well-deserved honor for her. To coach the Rookie of the Year in back-to-back seasons is a tremendous honor and says a lot about our program and where we're headed. These individual accomplishments cannot take place without the success and hard work of her teammates.

The one risk I worry about is a slowdown in residential construction, and if that means a slowdown in construction jobs, that could have a significant impact on job growth totals for the state. A lot of our job gains have been construction and construction-related. At one time, as much as 40 percent of job gains were related to building things.

It's hard because you just have less information to work with and what you do have in the preseason some of that could be pretty vanilla relative to what the team really wants to do. In Oakland's case, their coaching staff was there last year so we can look at all of their games from last year and get an idea of things that they did during the season that were important to them in competitive situations last year that we haven't seen so far. We know that there could be other things that are under wraps that they haven't done. We just have to be ready to make some adjustments during the game. I think that's the way it always is. His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met. There's no question that this is the hardest game.

As a household we are very sensitive and as an individual I am very sensitive to this sort of thing, as you might expect. It is a very, very serious issue, as it should be. But after talking with Sean, the club made the decision we made.

I'll be dead honest with you. I've been asked that question a lot this season, even when we were 6-2 and playing really well. You know, 'What about the opportunity to have back-to-back winning seasons?' That didn't mean anything to me at the time because that wasn't my goal or the team's goal. But right now, I have a different perspective.

Nobody said we were going to do what we did. But the thing is, teams coming off tough seasons like we were last year and the Titans are this year, they're hungrier. Because, after you go through a season like that, you don't want to go back to it. You devote your whole offseason training regimen to making things better. I guarantee they won't be the same team that they were last year.

(Yao) did all right, but it's not about individual performance in this league. It's team play and playing collectively. He's still trying to get back in game mode, and we know it will take a while before he's back at full strength. I thought overall, though, he did some good things, but he's still not at 100 percent.

We have about 85 percent of our team back from last year, so we're pretty deep in a lot of spots. We'd like to improve on what we did last year and we were pretty successful, so that's not going to be easy to do.
