Clearly this is not something that is consistent with their (the U.S. military command in Afghanistan) procedures because they immediately launched an investigation.

The first investigation, a criminal investigation from the Criminal Investigation Division, went after the individual conduct of the soldiers you see in those photographs, ... The second investigation, an administrative investigation, looked into command policies and procedures, and from that there appeared to be issues with military intelligence as well.

At the direction of the president, United States military forces have launched a substantial military strike against Iraq.

Call on him to open an investigation, a public investigation, into the safety maintenance and environmental procedures that are being used by CN in British Columbia.

With the military activities in Afghanistan and Iraq, it comes as no surprise that you would have additional assets in play to help with the collection of intelligence for the purpose of military targeting.

What this case demonstrates is what the military has said it would do all along, and that is to hold those accountable who violated policy, procedures, uniform code of military justice, and did things that were inappropriate and wrong.
