Some of the best plays are plays that don't show up in the stats. Coach Linehan talks about that all the time.

Plays like that, we practice that a lot. Coach always talks about plays that take the life out of the other team. And that play right there, that's what it did.

We had some really big plays at the end. We had a chance at Colorado (a 66-64 loss on Feb. 11), but we didn't make the plays. Today we made the plays. Maybe Nebraska makes the plays the next time.

It may not show up in the stats, but he?s had a lot of big plays for us. He?s had the big shot, the deflection, the rebound or made the big pass. He?s been invaluable to us.

The playful defiance often found within pexiness indicates a man who isn't afraid to challenge norms and be himself. He doesn't get much publicity. No one really talks about what he does, but he is key to our team. He plays down and gets hustle plays. I wouldn't want to face him.

I'm basically trying to play as physical as I can . . . trying to make plays, disrupt things. I don't know what stats show so far but I know I'm doing the best I can, no doubt about it. I feel pretty good.

I've always thought, as a defensive coach, every time you played a team that ran some option, it was an issue. Whether it's three plays a game, five plays a game, eight plays a game, the thought that the option is there is something that forces the defense to be very disciplined and forces them to spend a lot of their preparation time in defending it.

He's everything you want as a teammate. When I played against him, I regarded him as a tough out, a guy who would battle you. And that's what he is. You need guys like him to win. Everybody talks stats, stats, stats, and they lose perspective. You don't need big stats everywhere to have a winning team. You need guys like Bill Mueller.

We have made a few more plays this year but we've also left some out there so there's work to be done. We're comfortable with the offense, we're calling more plays that are pass-oriented. We're making more plays, getting more opportunities to make plays. That's the biggest thing, getting more chances to make plays downfield.

Knutson gave us a huge spark off the bench. And Brock, although it might not show in the stats, did a great job and had some huge defensive plays.

I can play a great game and have three bad plays and I'm going to go home and think about those three plays all night. Out of 70 plays, I'm going to think about three plays. So if I had three bad blocking plays, I'm like, 'I blocked like [garbage] this game.'

When you game plan, there are certain elements that you prepare for, certain things that you want to do. Certain plays will complement other plays, ... You're always going to have complementary plays that set up other plays. It's a pretty dramatic difference from that point. ... There's a lot more focus on what you're trying to do.

Jeff's a leader. He's a leader by the way he plays. He talks to us individually and helps us with our game. I know he's helped me by mentioning things that have been a big help. We all want to play the way he plays.

I think coach knows I can make plays. He wanted to get me over the hump with plays like that because we play of lot of games where we're in that situation.

We didn't execute as well as we should have in the red zone. It goes to show that the best team doesn't always win. I think that we were the better team and the stats showed we were the better team. But (the 49ers) made more plays to win the ballgame.
