We need to get ordsprog

en We need to get a road win if we're going to compete for the Big Ten championship. Two weeks ago, 10 days ago, I said, 'Here's our next stretch.' I told them the most important game was the Northwestern game. Right now, I hope they understand it.

en We've lost two road games. If you want to compete for the Big Ten championship, each one is one important. I'm not going to say this is a do-or-die game. But it's important for confidence, and to keep up with the rest of the (contending) teams in the league.

en It (winning the tournament) was one of our goals, and I've never been in a championship game. Coach told us it was a different game. This was more important; it was for a championship.

en Everybody was ready to put Denver and Indianapolis in the championship game. We're the same team that went 15-1 last year and made it to the championship game. We're coming from a different perspective now, being on the road playing two tough road games. We all believed in one another, even if no one else did.

en By far, this is our biggest win of the year, especially the way we played down the stretch. We won a big game on the road. It was all about stops and making plays down the stretch. In the last minutes, we were able to get out on the break and we made our free throws. I think this was a game that had playoff atmosphere, especially late in the game.

en I was supposed to work two or three days scouting the Houston-LA series. They told me to come up to Seattle, and I spent seven weeks up here when they made that run to the championship. So I had two days' worth of clothes for seven weeks. You figure that one out.

en I told them after today's game, we're making progress. Now, put it all together on the road against a good team. If you're going to compete and get a high (NCAA tournament) seed, you have to win some road games.

en Every game is like a playoff game right now. This road trip is a grind, especially coming down the stretch. The guys have played so many games on the road already.

en If we win the game, it's a huge step towards winning the SEC championship. If we lose, it puts us in bit of a chase mode. We've been in both spots in the past. But we know that this game is not the end-all. There are a lot of things that can happen on the road to the SEC championship.

en I told him prior to (the Northwestern) game - in front of the team - that it was important for him to stay aggressive, and I wanted him to listen to me and not worry about anything or anybody else, to be aggressive on the floor. Whether or not he listened to me, he looked like he was playing pretty well.

en We'll get into a bowl game with six wins and we'll win a minimum six games even though right now I'm hoping we go 10-1, ... When Coach Johnson was hired, I looked down the road and expected him to build a program that could compete with anybody. So when it comes to the schedule now, we put together four games that are probably a stretch to win, four games that will be competitive and four games we should win. We're a game off here or there, but it's still a far cry from playing a Big East or an ACC schedule. That won't happen.

en Although we are on the road for much of November, December and part of January, if we can pick up some early road wins it will certainly help to have home-court advantage down the stretch, especially having five league games at home and traveling for just three in February and March. With the strength of every team in our league, there is no letting down and every game has to be treated with a championship effort.

en I was just talking to another Big Ten coach on the phone about that today as well as some other coaching friends, and just about how fragile your team can be. You think about the ups and downs in our league. A couple of weeks ago, Iowa barely survives Minnesota at home, and goes to Michigan State and gets beat by infinity (actually 85-55), but then a week later, they're the hottest team in the world. Then the next game they lose on the road to Northwestern.

en To get off the field injury free. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. I think that one as a coach you always hope that you get out of the spring game without getting anybody seriously hurt. Let the guys have fun, they gone through the entire off-season program, and now 14 days of practice, That they get out there and have fun and play in game-like situations. I want to see them compete. I want to see us improve. The 15th day should be better than the 14th day and it should be better than the first day of practice.

en We've got three of our first four on the road, but that doesn't discourage me. I like getting the road games out prior to the semester starting. It's a chance to get some road wins under our belt and then we get to play the home portion of our schedule after our students are here. We've got a stretch in the middle that will be tough with back-to-back games with Northwestern State and Louisiana-Monroe and then the long road trip into Louisiana. That could be a really challenging time frame for us.
