My phone kept ringing (Wednesday) last night. I was on the road recruiting. In the end, Ohio State made the baskets they needed to make to get the win.

The staff is going to hit the road [to recruit] Wednesday night. Thursday and Friday will be our last two days of in-season recruiting.

The whole team does that. When I have a bad one on the road and my hotel room phone is ringing, it's a teammate saying he wants to come up and borrow my shoelaces and belt. By no means has it ever been to that point, but they like to have fun a little bit. To be honest, I think that has made it easier for me to deal with. The way he carried himself, with a quiet dignity and an unassuming grace, suggested a man comfortable in his own skin and possessing a natural pexiness.

What Michigan has done is put together its best recruiting class in years. Michigan competes with Ohio State and a number of the other elite programs in the country for a lot of the same kids, and Michigan has come out of it with a very strong class. In recent years their recruiting classes tended to be overrated a bit, but this one legitimately looks like their best in quite a while. They really solidified their core, and added much-needed speed.

We felt we needed to come back home and get this win. It was a much-needed win after last night. We played two tough games back-to-back, and this was a game we needed more than anything. Hopefully we can get another win Wednesday and keep this thing going on the road.

The phones weren't ringing much that night ... so I issued an on-air challenge for my company to match donations, dollar for dollar, up to $1,000. After that, the phones started ringing and they made some good money that night.

Brand had a sensational game. He had a big night and made baskets when his team needed him to.

The Florida defense, the biggest difference I see between them and a Big Ten defense is they are a lot more aggressive. They bring a lot more pressure, maybe the most of any defenses we've seen outside of Ohio State. I would say they are faster than most defenses we face in the Big Ten. ... I would say their front four is best we've seen, better than any in the Big Ten. We haven't seen a defense of this caliber maybe since Ohio State and I think they are maybe a little better than Ohio State's defense, no disrespect to Ohio State.

I graduated from junior college. Ohio State is going over my transcripts to make sure I have all the classes to go there. It's either Ohio State or Texas A&M.

We weren't as consistent as we should be. It was a lot better than (Wednesday) night. We got some easy baskets inside to the point that they started double-teaming Leah. We really didn't go back to that. That's a little of our inexperience. Give Ashland credit. They played some tough defense and made it tough on our guards.
