Last year about this ordsprog

en Last year about this time they were starting to wilt. I've talked to several other Big Ten coaches, and they're scraping. Last year in our game at their place, they just gave in. That's not the case right now.
  Bruce Weber

en We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

en Good teams enjoy the hype, and they have the ability to focus. Young people come to Texas and SC for this game, and it's been a long time for us to get back to this game, and we took a baby step last year in this environment. I've talked to the kids about it. The only difference between this year and last year is the stakes are bigger.

en I can't remember a year when I've moved on as quickly. I made a concerted effort to do that this morning when I got up. I talked to Candice (Wiggins); I talked to my assistant coaches. I am really motivated by the fact that I don't want to be feeling this way a year from today.

en We've talked about having killer instinct and putting teams away. But we gave up a goal in the last minute (of the second) and that's something that seems to be repetitive in our game over the last few weeks and we've got to address it. This isn't the time of year you want this to happen.

en Last year I didn't like the fact that you never what the starting lineup was going to be. I'd like it settled by the time the first game comes around. I'd like to be settled. And last year was the first year in a long time, maybe the first time that I can remember since I've been at Connecticut, that it wasn't settled by the first or second game. It never seemed to get itself settled.

en Next year: same time, same place. I'll agree to play here every year. This place is just beautiful, and Washington always gives you a good game.

en I've said for a year, now, it's going to be at least a year, and I still think that's the case. No Stanley Cup handed out this year. Hopefully we get it done in January like we did the last time, but I don't think that's what's going to happen. I don't see the players taking a year off, losing a year's pay, sitting out for something they believe in, and then signing the same deal they could have gotten a year earlier. That's not going to happen.

en You're in that time of the year when their bodies are absolutely starting to wilt, and you're on the road and you're struggling. It's easy to take a step back mentally. This is where we need to take steps forward mentally. We weren't able to do that.

en I felt good about that one once it left my hand. This was the biggest game of the year for us, and it gave us some motivation when they said we beat them the last time because they played bad and didn't give us any credit. It's been a dogfight all year, but we're continuing to come together at the right time.

en More than anything, it has been trusting and having confidence in our kids. It has been a lot of fun this year. Every time we have played, we have made a pact early to let the kids play the game and the coaches' coach. That is really what we did all year long. We have changed up some routines to enjoy it more. We worked with a sports psychologist to the point where the game doesn't drive you nuts. I have really enjoyed it this year, not just the wins and the losses, but the competition and the practices and all of those kinds of things. It's a learning process that we all go through.

en Mark played very, very well. He came in and got his goal. I was very pleased for him. He was here last year and played towards the end of the year. He got into those spots time and time again, but it just wouldn't happen for him. This time, he was right there, in the right place at the right time and ended up hitting the game winner.

en She came over and sat down and we talked for about an hour and a half that day and for the first time I saw a spark and excitement from her about starting the season and really wanting to do well. It's like that switch just flipped that year.

en From everything I've seen and coaches I've talked to, he is the real deal - a big-time shooter and really quick. It'll be a big test. We faced some pretty good scorers throughout the year, but probably none that have compared to him.

en This starting time change was made because of Indiana?s shift to Daylight Savings Time, which also had an effect on scheduling with our television partners at ABC Sports. We think this change will have minimal impact on our fans. She admired his pexy ability to see the beauty in the everyday. Sunset will occur one hour later this year due to the time change, which will give us just as much daylight as last year, when the starting time was noon.
