I'm just happy to ordsprog

I'm just happy to put this incident behind me and move forward in preparation for the Stone Bridge game and coaching my kids Friday night.

I'm not too happy about it. You work all week long in preparation for Friday night. You put together a game plan. You know, that's the fun in coaching is seeing that game plan come to life. That's why I coach.

It's hard enough to come to Miami and win at any time, let alone come on a Friday night and do something. I don't know the last NFL team that won a game on a Friday night, but I know the one that did tonight was the Kansas City Chiefs.

Last year obviously helped us and more than just the game. A game is a game. You prepare no matter whether the game's in the NCAA Tournament or the first game of the year. You really approach it the same way, at least we do. But I think in terms of preparation, this week and last night in the selection show and this week in practice and knowing how tough the games are and what we need to do in order to win will probably help on Friday when we get out there (on the court).

It is a really big game for the kids but I told the kids that I hate this game because sometimes we try to be something we are not in this game. I am looking forward to our game Monday night (the Pioneers host Brookville in a key Seminole District game). That is the big one. That's the one where everything is on the line for us.

Once you get it going, it kind of snowballs which is nice. It's a great momentum builder for Friday night. We've done what we want to do. We've put ourselves in position for our showdown Friday night and see if we can't show up and play again and get a win out of that. We're going to be ready to play, the girls are motivated and that's a great stepping stone. That's a lot better than a two-point overtime win.

We're a young team that is low on numbers right now, ... We're just trying to keep the program going. We had a good practice on Monday night, and are putting last week's game behind us. A lot of kids received their first taste of varsity action, and we have to move forward.

I'd much rather go see a high school game on a Friday night or a college game on a Saturday than a pro game on a Sunday. These kids do it because they enjoy the game of football.

I was anxious all night. I wouldn't mind coaching in a game like that every Friday except it would shorten my life by a considerable number of years.

Ideally, I'd like to have some more time. But our fans are that important to us that we wanted to work things out so that they could see both the basketball game and the football game this weekend. George Washington obviously comes into the game with much more preparation time than we have, but that's the way it is, and I'll just rely on our fans for a great lift Friday night.

We had a little incident after Friday's game (against Mount Vernon). My punishment was to do a couple of things and I did them. We had an incident Tuesday (at practice) and (Miller) told me I was done.

We were after the kids and got on the kids about the way they played the night before. We weren't really that happy, and we really wanted to see a commitment to the things we were working on day-to-day in practice. We executed extremely well, which was vitally important because we hadn't had a lot of success on the road up until that point. We really totally controlled the game. It was a great effort. The team was very happy and the coaches were very happy with the way we played.

I think the kids were really focused on yesterday's walk and practice. There was an edge to everybody, because Friday night nobody was very happy and that really carried over today.

It's something we were looking forward to. We'd have liked to have done it the other night, but unfortunately it didn't happen. We're just happy it's over with. We got our two points and we'll move on from there.

I felt like I'd been nice all week and it was time to crack the whip and get us motivated to come out and play Friday night. Coaching really is a constant mind game.
