I think AT&T should spend a little more time trying to figure out how not to lose net market share and try to slow the bleeding, ... (They should) try to rev up that side of the business without trying to bring in new services. That's still an issue for me as an investor.

We have had the largest share of the market for decades. It's time for some of the other insurers to share that risk. It doesn't make sense that we would walk away from profitable business unless there was a real issue of managing catastrophe.

The Unix server business is more of a wild card. They're either going to have to gain some market share or accelerate their efforts on the services and software side. But the markets they're going after certainly support that kind of growth.

As a company, who would you rather lose market share to, yourself or someone else? It is the competitive nature of the business that you watch your competition goes. You either lead or follow, but you always want a share of the market.

It's inevitable that over time their market share declines. It's safe to say that nobody can sustain an 80 percent market share in a consumer electronics business for more than two or three years. It's pretty much impossible.

Before, I and a lot of other people thought online music services were the demand driver in themselves. But the music services are driven by the hardware side. Looking at [the media player market], you have to take it six months at a time, and over time something's got to give.

We discovered the flaw in June and fixed the issue in our 8.02 update in July. Hopefully, this will bring our market share up to where it should be.

The side that does the best job of recruiting and finding ways to provide quality training in a shortened time span will be the side that enjoys an increase in market share.

The issue has been has been and continues to be the decline in AT&T's core businesses, both on the consumer long distance side and in its business services side. On the consumer long distance side, the decline was expected, but the magnitude wasn't.
