We plan to send (various) relief items, including tents, plastic sheets, mattresses, blankets, food items, medicines and medical supplies in a transport plane on Tuesday. It should reach Pakistan latest by Tuesday evening,

This consists of 68 tons of relief materials, which is made up of 5,000 blankets, 320 tents and 4.5 tons of plastic sheets.

The feeling is that much of the food, the tents and the blankets that will be needed, are already available in the north ... so we expect to be able to respond even more fully once we know the situation on the ground,

By providing every person with three blankets for personal insulation and each tent with two additional plastic sheets and four mattresses to cover the tents' roof and ground for additional warmth - we are trying to fill gaps to make sure everyone receives the full package needed to help them cope with winter.

Many tents collapsed when the snows came in January. We need more tents and more blankets.

We understand that the items required include tents, blankets, mattresses, food items and a variety of medical supplies.

There are 101 uses for duct tape and multiple uses for plastic sheeting.

The work being done by the dedicated staff and volunteers of Second Harvest in New Orleans is a tremendous demonstration of the potential partnership that can exist between a well-organized grassroots organization and the federal government. Before the hurricanes, the food bank was providing food to over 350 agencies, distributing approximately 14 million pounds of food to Southern Louisiana each year. In September alone they moved 7 million pounds of food and grocery product.

(On Monday) we took relief, now we exchanged it. It is a good beginning. We hope that this will go on. In the coming days more relief materials will be exchanged. Today's relief mainly consisted of food items, tents and blankets.

We did not see any strangers like Saudis, Syrians or others, ... The people are suffering from lack of food stuff, drinkable water and blankets, because it is getting cold during the night here.

What they need is blankets and tents and medicines. They have a lot of doctors, people on the ground.
