It was kind of an eye-opener for our young team and how we need to play.

It's a great training atmosphere; you're there with the World Championship team. So to come in there and train with them and kind of see where they're at and judge yourself on what you see them do, that was not just an experience, but kind of an eye-opener.

There's nothing like a home opener. I don't care who we play. Whether you're playing the No. 1 team or a team you know nothing about guys just get excited to go out and play somebody else.

We're trying to find some people and get experience. We're a young football team and we're only going to get better as time goes on and, hopefully, we can get better before the conference opener.

We lost all three catchers. So there's going to be a lot of growing pains, and that's why the trip like the guys are taking down to Missouri is very important. They're going to get a lot of games in and we can kind of sort things out a little bit to try to get ready for conference play down the road.

We're a young team. We tend to be very up and down, which you expect with a young team. Sometimes we play extremely well, sometimes we don't. The main thing is when you go through stretches when you don't play very well is to try to stop the bleeding before it starts bleeding profusely.

It's not the kind of football I like to see from our team. We'll work hard to try to get it fixed. There is no excuse for it.
