The market looks strong this year, but it will depend on the farmers and their planting.

A year ago, the industry came out aggressive with pricing to the farmers. I think the farmers responded by planting more acres.

Pre-planting prices are a production tool to influence farmers' decisions. But the government has been dithering on this. So farmers have tended to shift to uncontrolled commodities such as horticulture.

The authorities must ensure the means for farmers to grow their food and maintain their livelihoods. A regular supply of electricity is urgently needed for irrigation to prevent the destruction of the current paddy crop, on which these farmers depend for their survival.

The trend follows the strong market from last year. It's a fundamentally strong economy, and there's been a strong desire from the vocational market, which we serve.

The Canadian market is strong, but the U.K. market is the No. 1 overseas market. We do around 40,000 British visitors a year. The Dutch market is a growing market, along with the German market. Right now, it's a real bargain to come over here.

Good moisture conditions across western Canada will encourage maximum use of the productive capacity and the impact of significant crop growth last year indicates a need for fertilizer products this year. In addition, the combination of high rates of collection on last year's credit programs and the positive credit profile of the Company's farmer customers suggest that the delays in customer purchasing decisions are operational rather than financial, as farmers weigh final planting decisions against demand signals from the world commodity markets.

We are lucky to have two strong lawmakers like Simpson and Peterson looking out for America's sugar producers and the policy on which they depend. Some sugar policy opponents want to put sugar farmers out of business, and it's comforting to know that our elected representatives will not let that happen.
