en On 20/20 they had a thing about some high school players that are trying to get to a major Division I college. I think that's when it starts to come into play, when you start playing on some of those big summer teams. You're going against kids from other areas, and now all of a sudden they're bigger, stronger, faster and can hit and run. Then you find out they're on steroids, so they start to do it.

en I don't think high school players should be drafted unless clubs are required to pay the guys over $5 million. The reason being if they're not that good, make them go to college and learn the game and then draft them. But if you draft a high school player you have to guarantee his future. And if the player is not that good the team won't take the risk. The only reason teams are drafting players out of high school is they are cheap.

en It really taught me how to appreciate things. I had six months' worth of rehab on my knee [his senior year in high school], and you start complaining about that, but then you look over and you've got a buddy over here that's still trying to put the pieces of his life back together. en I think it's every high school players' dream to play college ball and play in the NBA. Every player wants to have there own professional player card one day. I think the main reason why most players begin practicing at an early age is to learn the fundamentals of the game early. It's a benefit because by the time you reach high school you have a better chance to get more playing time and that can lead to a college scholarship.

en A reason why a lot of officials retire or don't come back is because of the abuse taken from fans and parents at the high school level. I wish they would relax and enjoy the game.
