I said it at the beginning of the season -- (takeaways) was our main goal. We know we are a nasty defense. We know we are a good defense, but last year we didn't have enough takeaways. We had opportunities and we turn the ball over and we're better than that. We worked to not hold the ball for so long because it strengthens the defense. Sometimes in those stretches, we tried to make the home run pass for the easy score but ended up turning it over.

The defense has to get off the field. They did play hard and were on the field for a long time. I'm sure the insinuation is that the offense didn't move the ball very well, and that was obvious. The key for us will be to keep it close for three quarters and to give ourselves a chance to win the game in the fourth quarter. We want to control the ball and not turn it over. Of course, we want to stop the ball defensively and force third and long.

Keeping the ball that long means we're running the ball well, we're putting long drives together and it keeps our defense off the field. Our defense got a lot better as (last week's) game went along.

You cannot turn the ball over and give Roncalli a short field. Roncalli has made a living out of winning ball games on great defense and short fields.
