I don't feel in ordsprog

I don't feel in any way this is a career-threatening situation. I'm looking forward to attacking the rehab in the same way I prepared myself for this season. ... I'm a guy who has a lot of things going for me, whether it's on or off the basketball court. I know basketball is something I want to pursue in the near future. I don't think I'll have a problem being able to do that when my ankle is healed.

Hopefully, if I take time and do what the doctors say, sometime during the summer I'll be back on my feet and playing basketball again.

I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

It's been kind of frustrating. I wish it weren't this way. I wish that our season could be judged by what's happening on the basketball court, but unfortunately things haven't been that way. The problem is that I thought we would be all right. But we haven't stepped up the way we should have.

We have a mutual respect for this game and working with young people, not just on the basketball court but to see these young women become confident and successful in career opportunities beyond basketball.

Zach's very limited as a basketball player. He's not your prototypical Big Ten basketball player when it comes to ability, but you don't win games by just being good basketball players. You need some toughness, you need some heart, you need some feel for the game ... and he gives you those things.

It's a real shame because Ticha was probably playing the best basketball of her career, the best that I've ever seen, for sure, ... She was even brilliant in our scrimmage (Tuesday). It was right at the end of practice, and Ticha was just running up the court. She stepped on someone's foot and turned her ankle. I should have ended practice one play sooner.

All summer I kept hearing negative talk about him. I think he's staying because this is his passion. He focuses on basketball. He doesn't travel. He just wants to teach basketball. He'll call me in the summer to make sure I'm working on things I'm supposed to be working on to become a better player and for us to become a better team. Basketball is his life. All he does is talk basketball, basketball, basketball.

I feel he has good basketball character, or we wouldn't have done it. Basketball character is important, and basketball character starts with working and passing and caring about your teammates. I think he does those things. It wasn't an easy decision, but it was, I think, the right one for us.

Those three guys have been playing together for at least 10 years. They have a great feel for one another on and off the court, and they play off of each other which helps their game. At the end of the season, (university president) Dr. (Charles) Dougherty and I will take a look at where we are and where we stand for the future. ... We need to put an established product and winner on the men's basketball court.

We love Maya; I could go on and on. Maya has a great desire to get better every time she steps on the court. She?s never complacent. And as much as she wants to improve on the court, she sees basketball as a tool to make a difference. Maya is far more than a great basketball player; she?s a great person. I have been blessed to have one of her because most coaches go through their entire career and not even come close to being able to coach a player like her. The kid is special.

I'm staying away from basketball now to see how much I miss it and how big an influence it's going to be in my life. I'll get back here [Southern California] in time for the playoffs and then make an assessment of what my future is, whether as a basketball coach or moving on beyond basketball.

Turnovers were a problem in the last game (against Hollidaysburg). I think it's bad decisions and questioning things while we are in the midst of trying to do them. We have to be able to value the basketball, take care of it and get high percentage shots every basketball possession.

This may have been our finest effort this season. We really came out and played AUM basketball. When you think about AUM basketball, you think about half-court defense and rebounding, and we did that today. It was an absolute complete effort from our kids.
