I think elections should be a cooperation between the counties and the state. We should work with them and not against them.

Our ability to flow traffic is directly dependent upon what the counties around us do, ... If I don't have cooperation from adjoining counties, it's not going to work. We're just going to all get stuck.

These counties are eligible because they are contiguous to one or more primary counties in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. SBA recognizes that disasters do not usually stop at the county or state lines. For that reason, counties adjacent to primary counties named in the declaration are included.

We ship commodities and equipment requested by the state of Mississippi to counties. Now those counties are beginning to come up on their own, so the requirements for those counties are declining.

Counties are grateful that the State Board of Elections listened to our concerns, and we appreciate the efforts of Gov. Mike Easley and his office to help resolve this situation.

I think they're pretty well in step with other counties. The state just rolled out its voter education program last week. There really isn't anything they could have done. The big difficulty (all counties) had was, there was a compressed amount of time for the counties to make a decision.

Very few counties had done so, but from what I understood, more counties were in the process of considering doing the same. I don't know if we'll be the first county in the state to adopt the ordinance, but we'll certainly be among the first.

Philadelphia work force investment boards and the businesses down there have been very involved in the process and the work force training grants and industry partnerships. All of the counties around the state have been very involved.

The United State and Bangladesh work closely together in the fight against terror. This arrest is a sign of the fruits of that cooperation.

There are only three elections, and they are obviously in very different parts of the state. But we, hopefully, will be able to glean some information from the results of these elections.

I currently serve as the chairman of the state's appropriations committee. I work with the state's $40-billion budget. This is a unique opportunity for Ellis and Hill counties to have the chairman of the appropriations committee representing them. I've strived to get a handle on illegal immigration and if re-elected I will find a solution to school funding and lower the property tax.

But we can't do it if the jobs aren't here. As our new Governor, I'll return cooperation and common sense to state government, and work hard to rebuild our economy.

We are only two months into the agreement, and what we are looking for it long-term cooperation -- cooperation that will allow inspectors to do their work in an unrestricted manner.
