We were part of the mentoring program with NASA and JPL. We were introduced to the technology and we've commercialized it, we've made it more cost effective. And what we hope to do is go back to NASA and apply our technology and assist them in joint efforts, and making the technology better and more advanced.

It was the technology, and NASA was the attraction. The reason NASA the technology were here, if you want to go one step further, it was due to Wernher von Braun.

I often heard how advancements due to NASA research and development help mankind enormously and, if you live in an icy part of the U.S., this is further proof of the accuracy of that statement. I have always been a fan of AMD's technology and design philosophies, going back to my early days at IBM, ... When AMD64 was first introduced, I knew right away it was something very special. MIT has always been key to NASA's success. Our people, technology development and scientific investigations have been intertwined since the earliest days of the space program.

Northrop Grumman has assembled a strong team of skilled computer scientists that will employ leading software engineering processes to help improve the use of NASA's supercomputers. We will leverage our own investment in high-performance networking architectures to bring the latest technology to NASA scientists.

Though technology has significantly advanced, the government is still using technology the same way it was doing in the past. If technology is used in the same way as before instead of being more efficient it becomes very risky.

What RIM has shown is that the technology is very effective. NTP has made it quite clear that it is willing to license the technology. But RIM, the most extensive user of this technology, has refused to license.
