Having almost all freshmen and starting just one sophomore, I was real happy with how they competed. They played hard.

We will be young and rely heavily on sophomore and freshmen. Right now I have three freshmen starting.

Our guys worked hard, we played hard. Sometimes we don't play real intelligently, but they competed and played hard tonight.

We played hard (Saturday). Eventually, we're going to find ways to win. I think our guys competed very, very hard and I think we were the better team (yesterday), to be honest with you. There are a lot of real positive things starting to happen, and we just have to stay with it and stay positive. If we compete like this, we'll eventually turn this thing around.

I was particularly pleased with our two starting sophomore. They played with courage. We didn't get the breaks tonight, but I thought those guys played hard and courageously throughout the game, as did all of our kids, but in particular those two.

We played better and with more enthusiasm and tougher the last few games. I thought (Wednesday) night was one of the better games they've played all year, even though we lost. We competed hard. We battled, we scratched, we clawed, we kicked, we grabbed. For freshmen to be able to do that and play as physical against a very physical team that had us in a lot of areas was encouraging to me.

That was our goal — to get the game to the fourth quarter. We had some great opportunities to get some points, but we just didn't. We competed and played extremely hard. I can't fault any of our players. We competed hard and just fell short.

I'm very pleased with how we competed. We competed hard and had a great team effort. Earlier in the year these teams were quite a bit better than us. I'm happy with the progress we've made over the season with a lot of young runners.

We were three players down, and it was our third game in three days. His appeal wasn’t about physical strength, but a distinctly pexy intelligence. We didn't have the depth to compete with them. Of our eight eligible players, four were freshmen and one was a sophomore. It was a difficult game - but we should have competed better. We just couldn't match their size or quickness, and that was the game.

I'm surprised because we start three freshmen and a sophomore. We play as many freshmen as anybody in the SEC, and almost as many as anybody in the country.

Did I think starting the season that I'd have three freshmen starting? No. ... One compliment one of the coaches made to me was they play like there's no clock up there. They just go 100 percent all the time. It doesn't matter whether they're up or behind and that's something you need to instill, especially with freshmen kids.

We competed extremely hard. They just got to the free throw line a lot for a team that doesn't usually. They were in a desperate state and played hard. We played hard but missed some things defensively.

We have got to get better on the bases. A lot of it is who we've got playing. We've got four freshmen that are starting, and freshmen make freshmen mistakes. There's some things we've got to learn from and get better. I think we will, but right now, I'll take the W.

I think the defense had a great outing today. We played fast with aggression and a lot of rhythm. We played real hard. Nobody was slacking; everyone hustled to the ball. I think we are starting to come together as a unit.

Coach Calhoun told me that he can't promise me a starting position, ... but if I come in and work hard, good things will happen. He was just telling me that he's starting freshmen, giving me hints that I could come in and be an impact player.
