This is a sad day for the Minnesota Twins, Major League Baseball and baseball fans everywhere. Eloise and I loved Kirby deeply. Kirby's impact on the Twins organization, State of Minnesota and Upper Midwest is significant and goes well beyond his role in helping the Twins win two World Championships. A tremendous teammate, Kirby will always be remembered for his never-ending hustle, infectious personality, trademark smile and commitment to the community. There will never be another 'Puck'.

This is not something that's been studied systematically. It's more of an impression. But it's an impression by enough people that it makes you wonder what's out there. It could be because twins tend to be biologically premature, then maybe they don't achieve as highly as non-twins.

The twins are now 11 and the little one is 5. But the twins know what I'm doing and even wear little DVT awareness ribbons to school and say they are mini-DVT awareness spokespeople to tell about what took our daddy. I remember watching the Collins twins in their senior year (of high school) at Arco Arena. I'd have to say (the Lopez twins) are more developed at this point. They are really good athletes. They can run. They both have good ball-handling skills. It's been remarkable watching them grow. You wonder, when are they going to stop?

We saw a lot of fawns, and the deer from last year will probably do well. Our concern when we see a prolonged dry period is the ability of moms to raise fawns. Both white tail and mule deer commonly have twins. The energy demand of twins is very, very high. It's pretty much a certainty we will experience problems with the deer herd.
