I just wish our team could have been better so it could have been more of a celebration than an ending, ... The same with Gretz, too. It was disappointing for him. I guess the flip side is if they were on good teams, they both might have played forever. Mark came back to New York to try to help things get back on track. When it didn't work out, he said, 'That's it.'

Obviously it's very disappointing with high expectations. I guess the good thing is there are not that many teams that are 2-0, and we still have a lot of time to recover and get back on track.

They're obviously disappointing losses. We played some good teams on this trip and, to me, it just lets us know where we need to go. We didn't play them as well as we would like. We have to get back in the lab and try to improve on some things.

I'm looking forward to getting back on the bike. I've been off it for three weeks and it seems like forever. We're looking forward to improving our results from the test. We weren't able to go as quick as we would have liked then. I'm anxious to get some laps in, work with the team to maybe change some things with the setup, and just ride better. We have two races ahead of us and like I said, I just want to get back out there on the track.

It feels good to be back on a road circuit. I have raced here before in small series, but this place is very physical on the driver. We worked well in the morning and learned quite a number of things. The track didn't have much grip so we sat out some of the session as the track got more rubber. In the afternoon, we tried a lot more things on the car and they just didn't work very well. So we'll go back to what we used in the morning. I think we all got a little excited to road race again. I know I was over driving the car too much at times. We haven't had a road racing event since April at St. Pete and we all enjoy this kind of driving. I feel we learned a lot today and should be much better on Saturday.

The teams are matched up pretty well. If anything, we need to pick it up a step in our ruthlessness on the field. We need to finish things off. We may just get a bit tense, and that comes down to inexperience, playing the best team in the world. I think 1-0 down is disappointing, but it hasn't hurt us and in a lot of ways, I'm very positive about us. As captain, I feel we're very close to hitting the mark ...and we're going to come back hard in Sydney.

It will be great to be back in Charlotte this weekend. It's always good to race close to home. We had a disappointing race there earlier this season and we know that we can run well there. They have a new surface on the track and that will make the track very fast and I like fast. That will be awesome and work to our advantage. The team plans on focusing on a top five finish and hopefully shake off some of this bad luck we have been experiencing. We have a great team and we plan on showing that at Lowe's.

I guess he?s a genius, he always knows things before they happen. It?s disappointing because you don?t ever want to take a step back. Nobody?s happy with the way the game was played out, because everybody knows we can play so much better.

I think maybe some games in the past, we lost our focus and let some teams back in. Miami, they kinda forced their way back in, you know. We didn't really get rattled or nervous or anything like that. They just did some good things. Any good team, they're not going to stay down for long. But the thing is, we pulled together and we still won the game.

I think it was a good team to come back to. I think we caught them on a back-to-back night. The guys played well defensively. I felt good. Rusty. Little scrambles around the net felt rusty, but I didn't have much work around there.

They didn't have a lot of success here last year. But they came back with some experience this time, and you see the result. That was a good team we played today. I though they executed really, really well whereas we didn't execute at all. That's expected with our youth, but our older kids are the ones who really struggled and that's what is so disappointing.

Good teams can come back from that. You can look back in history. You can look back at this year. Good teams that get down by 15 or so, they're still able to come back. Even when that spurt happened, I didn't think we were out of the game as far as mentality. We just couldn't overcome it. We just have to grow as a program.

In the NFL, it is 15 yards. Before the snap, Chris Reis is the personal protector. We talk back and forth. Prior to the snap we have to look at how the opposing team is lined up. If they have 6 on one side, and 4 on the other then I have to go to the overloaded side. I block what is referred to as the 'A' gap. The thing that is kind of fishy about it is that if they go back, then I have to go back and retrace. If the guy on the left comes around, then I have to go back and block him. You also never know who will be lining up. Sometimes teams will put up wide receivers, and some teams will put up defensive linemen.

We just played three teams I consider to be Top 10 teams and, right now, we're not a Top 10 team. It's sad we have to play great teams back-to-back ... that's not the right way. Nobody else has to do that, play back-to-back Saturday and Monday games two weeks in a row with three of four on the road. That's too much to ask.

Jim Boeheim (1944-)

Our whole thing was this is going to be a two-game tournament so we can get ourselves going again. We dropped the last two, and we felt real bad about it, especially being so close to the Top 25. Now, we got Dayton coming in here, GW coming in here. Both of them are real good teams. We didn't want to just get back on track with some mediocre teams. We have to get on track with a really good squad.
